The Wall: A Parable

Beautiful parable with hints of deep meaning
This is a beautiful parable. Religious beliefs aside there are hints at a deeper psychological existence. However, perhaps for a young adult or child or simple loneliness this parable is sufficient but in the end it just doesn’t get to the foundation of the wall.

Meaningful
This was bought for me when I was about 19 and it meant a lot. Lost it though, but fortunately many years later I found a copy in a bookstore. Fast forward. Last year, I read it to my grandchildren (I'm 57 now) and the 10 yr old loved it so much that I had to order one for her. It very aptly, yet indirectly (well it IS a parable), talks about when we've gone through a hard time and we chose to withdraw from life. Eventually though, we realize how very alone we are that way. Then it talks about our journey back - with God's help. It's really very well said, a touching story about the one path of life we sometimes walk.

Great book
Loved it! I am using it to take down my own wall. It's lonely and dark. No trust to give. People don't even call me anymore. This book out into perspective that God is always with you and can help you overcome fear, resentment, hate, anger, and all. I feel empowered.

One of my favorite books!
This book has so much meaning. It is written like a children's picture book, but it the adults that really like it. Not really a true allegory, but it has a lot of truth. It is the story of how we protect ourselves from other people. We think we are doing a good thing by building a beautiful wall, but then come to realize how we isolated ourselves. And then it shows that there is hope of becoming free, but not without tears. It is written with understanding. I put it in the same category as the book 'Hope for the Flowers'.

Can't say enough about this book. I've used it ...
Can't say enough about this book. I've used it as a mom on teen happenings with teens in tears as it is so relatable. I've used it with my clients and parishioners. It is very faith-based so those without face may have a difficult time at the very end of the book. I have what I don't know how many copies.

Trends to explain from a religious point of view
This was not presented as a religious book but in fact it has may religious references. For that reason it is getting 3 stars because it is certainly not for people that lean toward being spiritual rather than religious. References to Him (presumably God) and word choices like “blessed” were a turn off and would certainly not be well-received by the spiritual people I know. Probably a good book for church-goers though. Just not my cup of tea.

Awesome book a great Parable. Everybody should read it at some point in their lives.
This is a book with an awesome parable. It is really deep. I'm going to give it to my daughter to read and hope that she could learn something from it. We will discuss it after she's read it.

An amazing lesson on introspection and self-worth.
A friend bought me the kindle version and I needed to have it in my hands. This story holds a lesson everyone needs to experience. This book is truly an experience. I am a mental health therapist and I have used this story in both individual and group therapy--great conversation starter!
