Saint-Gobain ADFORS FSP8538-U FCS8538-U Spline, Gray, 160 in X 25 ft

There are virtually NO splines. There is a "slight" marking where a spline could be. The product is, for the most part, totally round. I have purchased a "spline" product from this manufacture previously. This is NOTHING like the original spline product. Will be returning!

The manufacturer has changed the product, but kept the same bar code/product identification. I ordered packs of this and got the smooth lighter gray spline. I expected to get the ribbed softer product, which is what I had installed on a previous job. The lighter product is MUCH harder to install, and very stiff. The ribbed version is darker gray and softer and more flexible. it is VERY easy to install, but, in Florida, it hardens over time, and eventually shrinks enough that it can release the screen. I toughed it out, using the harder smooth kind, and wore out two roller tools from the force needed to install it, and YES, I ordered the correct size. I needed a bit more to finish the job, and ordered more packs. LUCKY ME. I opened the next to last pack and found not the the hard smooth kind that I had used on 90% of the job, but the ribbed kind.. WHAT!!! same barcode, functionally the same, but totally different products. Any can see the difference in them when installed. This could be a major problem on a big job, since customers get unhappy when things don't look nice and matched, aside from the "why is this part different ..." issue. I will not be buying products from this manufacturer in future, but if you choose to, I strongly suggest you examine it closely when you receive it to make sure you got the same thing BEFORE opening it so you can return it if you get a mismatch like I did. CAVEAT EMPTOR!

I use spline of different diameters for packing in repairing cracks in concrete before filling with caulk. Not the normal use, but it works great!
