Vintage style with up to date interior design
I received a sample backpack in exchange for an independent reviewA sweet wave of nostalgia rolled over me when I opened up this backpack. The look and scent took me back to first year of secondary school, thrilled with a newly purchased satchel or music case, as that classic leather look, although it is' PU' cleverly, still with a rough nap inside set me wishing to write my (maiden) name in a black marker inside, together with my form number. I might yet do it.This backpack is made to last, stay the course, keep me company for many years. It has the air of an item that will improve with use and the occasional wipe over with polish. Modern accommodations include a slip in zippered up pocket on the outside waiting for a phone or purse, a cosy, snug, padded slip in section for a tablet or laptop, inside pockets for things that need to be kept in one place. The shoulder straps adjusted happily to my figure and feel good while walking around. I always think a back pack makes me stand up straighter. There is something very satisfying about so simply designed an accessory. I feel friendly towards it because it harks back to my younger years when off I went, ready for another day, hopefully lugging my finished homework back to be marked with an 'A'. As I will award this bag - 5* for sure.

Well made but on the small side
This is a nice bag, it is really ideal for school and college however i must disagree with the other reviewer. You cannot fit A4 files in here, it is neither deep enough or wide enough to hold them. You can only jut get an A4 notepad in there but you can not do the zip up and you couldnt have it in the outside flap as it would fall out.It did fit my 14inch tablet however inside a sleeve, but i couldnt do the zip up at all.I think this would be ok for primary school kids, maybe teenagers starting out, but not for lugging files around, its not big enough. However its really well made, i dont like the front fastening, held on by 2 flimsy magnets, i think it needs buckles for security reasons as a pickpocket could have your purse out of there in under 5 seconds if this was on your back.Disclaimer: I was given a free sample in return for an objective review.Edit: I have uploaded a few pics just to show that the bag i got was slightly too small for the folders.

At last, a serviceable around town backpack with some style as well as substance
Firstly, it is important to say I was offered this item for free by Lalawow in return for a review. I made the supplier aware that the review would reflect my experience, and might be critical. Lalawow were prepared for this and have not exerted any pressure or insisted on a positive reviewI was pleased to try the backpack, as it fulfilled several requirements: I have been using a fairly unappealing canvas backpack. Some of my work involves toting around a couple of fairly hefty A4 files, and I prefer to carry them on my back, leaving hands free for the inevitable supermarket run on the way home.I really wanted something which looked classier than my tatty canvas 'schoolbag' rucky. Being a vegetarian, PU rather than dead animal leather was another requirementLalawow' version fits the bill very well indeed. I chose the black version, though I think the coffee one looks gorgeous; but reckoned the black version is less likely to show the ravages of battering and staining as I struggle through rush-hour, standing on trains. The rucky easily managed my bursting A4 hardbacked folder in one of the internal pockets, and another A4 in the external pocket, secured nicely by the closing straps. The internal compartment is padded, to allow up to a 14 inch lappy to be well protected. There are internal pockets also for a mobile and other small items. There is a very secure external zipped compartment at the side/back which rests against your back, so, again, valuables needing quick and safe access could be placed there, for example, purse, keys, mobileThe only reason I have dropped the final star, is that there were a couple of extras I would have liked - a second zipped external pocket on the other side, and/or the more usual flapped holster at the side for a mobile, so you can easy get to a ringing phone without having to take the bag off and/or space for a small water bottleFinally, I am a woman of strictly average height - 5 ft 5 inches, and, as far as I'm aware, my back is of quite normal length for that height. I needed to adjust the straps to as short as they would go, as I prefer to ride a rucky fairly high up on my back, well clear of the lumbar spine curve. It might be that a shorter person might find the bag sitting a little low. I do note I seem to carry my bag higher up on my back than some people do.As far as the extra pocket requirements go - actually, Lalawow themselves sell a version only costing a little more than this excellent bag, otherwise it looks pretty close to this one. It may be that I will surrender to buying that one. Lalawow Men Women Fashion PU Leather Backpack College Schoolbags DaypackDo note there has been some erroneous conflation of product listing information between the two versions - it is the slightly more expensive version which has TWO 'mini zipper side pockets' - this just has ONEI'm very impressed with this though!Edit 17.4. 16 In view of the fact that another reviewer has expressed understandable disappointment that her bag was too small to hold A4 folders, I have uploaded 3 pictures, to show 3 A4 folders in the main compartment of my bag, a photo with the zip drawn across showing the folders so you can see completely closing the zip will not be difficult - there is plenty of slack there, and, finally, those three folders. One is a hard, rigid A4 card folder, the other two are slim, flexible A4s. Now I admit that the rigid A4 has to be carefully negotiated in, making sure you don't catch it on the internal pockets, but fit they clearly doBut this does of course indicate a potential problem with variable size, I guess on the cutting block. Is mine the size of most of them, is hers the size of most of them, or does one of us have a version which is abnormally large, and the other a version which is abnormally low? That is something impossible to answer, and it might of course make anyone wanting one of these specifically to fit A4 folders, pause in the buying.I remain delighted with mine, because it does what I want, and holds those A4s!
