Does Not Stay Attached To Hood
Once installed in the rectangular hole in the hood, it feels secure but pops out with the hood prop you go to use it. The material is different from OEM and the dimensions and tolerances are slightly off. Had to glue it in.

This clip doesn’t fit a 98 TJ
The 98 TJ has a small round hole and this product is for a larger square hole. It says it fits my vehicle when I purchased.

Low quality difficult to install part
I bought this hood prop rod from Dorman because I have used various parts of their several times in the past and they have always been well made quality parts. Not so with this item. The main problem is that this is supposed to be a 2 part item with one end sliding into the other to push the mounting clips apart holding it firmly in the square cut out in the hood. Instead the item was obviously cast as a one piece item that has to be separated to allow the correct installation. I first assumed (my bad) that it would simply slide in when the clip was inserted in the hood. Nope. No manner of pushing wiggling and grunting got it to budge. I even tried a steel flat nose punch and a hammer trying to break it free. No luck. And trying to pull it apart with 2 sets of pliers also failed, and started to damage the lip on one of the pieces. I finally resorted to a heat gun on low heat and heated it up to finally rip it apart with 2 pair of pliers. And even then only one side pulled loose enough to tilt it over. The other side that was still firmly attached was molded to the to the other side by excess plastic mold material. It took a razor knife to cut out the plastic on the other side to separate the two parts. Once apart it was apparent that any amount of hammering would have never driven the two parts together. I also had to use the razor knife to trim the lip off of the top of the clip section smooth so it would push all the way into the portion seated in the hood. Prior to seating both parts I applied some glue to both parts to hopefully keep them from pulling apart while pulling the prop rod in and out of the clip. So bottom line is that I did get the part to work, but it took way too much time and effort for what should have been less than a minute install. So, at least this time the higher priced quality part was not the best choice.

Plastic is brittle
I bought this to replace the original that had a broken side. I successfully removed the broken clip from the minivan. In the removal process I discovered the clip is 2 parts. One part inserts into the body of the van the other inserts into the first part, spreading locking tabs to prevent the entire keeper from coming out when you lift upon the hood prop rod. I took the new part and inserted into the slot in the body then with the pripros inserted in the keeper pressed down to spread the lock tabs. I heard a snap and plastic parts shattered to the ground. The parts that shattered were the locking tabs. The part that spreads them apparently spread them too much and they broke off. The part was cold from being outside in the mail box for an hour and that may have contributed to its brittleness I have successfully installed these types of fasteners before with no issues, so this was a bit of a surprise. Amazon is sending a replacement. I will warm the part to room temp before trying to install it when it arrives.

Works but pops out of the hood hole easily.
It fits poorly and needs an additional clip to hold it in the hood.
