Great resolution, easy to use
I previously purchased a Plustek OpticFilm scanner, but I was disappointed with the quality of the scans with the default settings. I think it requires some fiddling with the scanning parameters to get good results. Now this scanner, it produces great images on default settings, without having to change anything. Settings can be changed in case the picture needs adjustments, but this scanner makes it really effortless to get great quality images. I also like that it does not need the negative holder, so you can scan the whole roll without needing to cut it. For a casual photo enthusiast who wants good resolution and quality scans, this thing is perfect, and it does not break the bank.

New improved model.
Works best with 2 usb port, not 3 usb. The updated app and software is much better than the original model 3650 I have. Excellent for the price and my needs.

Potentially Good Scanner Marred by Inadequate Software.
I wanted a scanner that was more than a modified Smart Phone camera, and this one seemed to answer that at a reasonable price. I have many 70 year old slides that I wanted to scan. Unfortunately, among other problems, this scanner is so slow, it would be impossible to complete my project during the remained of my life time. The software required to operate the scanner is totally inadequate for the tasks it purports to be able to perform. Pros: Scanner is an actual flatbed type scanner supposedly capable of very high resolutions. Scanner is easy to set up and put into action, as long as the software is working. When the automatic correction modules work properly, they are very good. The scanner comes in very secure packaging. Cons: The scanner only handles mounted 35mm slides and 35mm negative strips which was fine for me, but grossly limits it versatility. The slide holder is slightly larger than a standard 35mm slide and it is possible to insert the slide so it cannot be completely scanned. Occasionally the scanner cropped the preview when making the final scan (not sure if this is a scanner or software problem). [see sample above] Occasionally the final scan was blurred in part. [see sample above] Software was totally inadequate to utilize all the abilities of a scanner this sophisticated. The manual corrections were simplistic and inadequate to truly enhance or correct problems with the original image. Occasionally, the automatic correction modules made no apparent difference on a scan with multiple issues. Scanning time was excessive for the final scans: 1:18 FOR "Fast" and 2:55 for "Quality", both at 900 dpi and not counting the near constant scanner calibrations. On my system, if I closed the software, I had to restart my computer to get the software to re-recognize the scanner. Over all documentation was dismally inadequate. I imagine that the scanner might be of use to someone with adequate software and time to correct the scanned images in other software, but the time needed to do that makes this scanner inappropriate for my use. I certainly could not recommend it to a casual or non-technically competent user. .

A great medium-priced slide scanner.
Exactly as described. This is a brand new slide scanner that is probably 25 year-old technology, and works well. There's a small learning curve and it won't convert multiple slides simultaneously, but it produces a high quality digital image that is the best possible for the money.

Create family archive
I use the scanner to convert old films into digital format and add to the archive of family photos. The device copes with its task perfectly. A little slow, but the scanning result is excellent. A wonderful machine for returning pleasant memories. I recommend it to everyone.
