Intriguing Plot and Well-developed Characters
The first book in the Danny Ryan trilogy. Intriguing plot and well-developed characters, which Ryan continues throughout two more volumes. This stands out among mystery trilogies. Strong imagery throughout.

Dissapointing
The goons potrayed in this book all act like children and the seniors of the mob don’t do anything to straighten them out. The story is really not very believable. In the real mob world this wouldn’t occur. Sad to say some of the themes seems like cheap knock offs of Sopranos. Very disappointed by Don Winslow, I can’t believe this book is written by the same person that has written Satori, Power of the Dog and The Force and what’s heartbreaking is it’s that his last Triology before retiring. Well I guess you just can’t have everything
