So versatile with all the Japanese meals I make! It adds so much more umami flavor and we love it. We’ve made Nikugyaga, Oyakodon, Tamagoyaki, Hamburger sauce and more!

A Very Tasty and Versatile Addition Your Kitchen Bag of Tricks
This versatile sauce is a great kitchen addition, especially for Japanese cooking aficionados, but can just as easily serve a roll in many western dishes as well - including as a meat marinade and BBQ sauce ingredient. It of course is excellent for stir-fry or as a tasty additive to braised meat meals, soups, and stews. You could even go so far as to use it as a dipping sauce for a number of things - I really like it as a dip for fried gyoza.Anyway, the quality is good and the maker is heartfelt and genuine. I say give it a try if you're an enterprising and/or discriminating home chef, or just a passionate amateur with a flair for flavor.

Peanut butter noodles! Umami sauce lobster roll!
UPDATE: I also made an umami sauce lobster roll. Sooooo good. After cooking the lobster in butter, I put it in a mayo-umami sauce mix. Added some of the pan butter. Added some finely chopped daikon radish for freshness and crunch. Put it in a roll. Cucumbers on top. It is amazingly good.UPDATE: I made the peanut butter noodles recipe Moe (Kimono Mom) showed on her livestream using the sauce. It was PERFECT! The flavor was excellent; in the past I would have used 4-5 different ingredients to create that flavor. But today? Just 4! So simple.RECIPE FROM ANOTHER REVIEWER:2 TLB Umami Sauce2 TLB creamy Peanut Butter (I used crunchy because I prefer the texture)1 tsp rice vinegar (I used white wine vinegar and mirin since that’s what I had on hand, 1 tsp each)water to desired consistencyI mix the sauce ingredients in a large bowl like Moe did. I have it a little on the thick side intentionally because I add the noodles from the pot of water directly (using tongs). Since the noodles are bringing a little water with them, it thins out the texture of the sauce a little.I added cucumber, carrot, daikon, snow peas and red bell pepper (blanched.) I topped with a chili crunch oil from Momofuku.I’ve also used Umami Sauce for gyoza, and mixed with mayonnaise to put on a crab cake. Delicious!Moe’s dedication to showing how simple Japanese cooking can be and providing the Umami Sauce has given me more courage to try Japanese cooking at home. Excited to try more recipes! Thank you, Moe!Glad I got this! Excited to try as a marinade for fish and with other veg.

Deliciously authentic and versatile
I am a big fan of Kimono Mom and was so happy when her Umami Sauce became available in the US. I feel so invested in her success because of how open, honest, kind, smart, and determined she is on her channel. I was excited to finally see the bottle in person and hold it in my hands after seeing it in videos for so long. Before we cooked with it, we tasted it straight from the bottle. I was immediately reminded of my Japanese grandma and all the dishes she used to cook for our weekly family dinners. So far, we have used Umami Sauce as a marinade for chicken breast, a dipping sauce, and a cooking sauce with portobello mushrooms and onions. Everything has been delicious, and there are so many more recipes to try. We also used it on ice cream and it is sooo good that we had it multiple nights in a row. We will be making oyako donburi next because the sauce already tastes exactly like it. Congratulations on all your accomplishments, Moe!

Delicious!!
Love this sauce. It is expensive, but it replaces 3 ingredients you would normally buy to make one sauce. And you can dilute it without compromising the flavor since it is concentrated. You definitely get what you pay for! I made some teriyaki chicken, and it was the best I have ever made. The flavor was awesome. It's strong yet subtle, and you don't need to add any additional salt to your dishes.I was worried about the packaging. It was sent UPS. The bottle was only wrapped in 1 layer of thin bubble wrap. The Amazon box was twice the size of the bottle, and there was no cushion, wrapping, or anything to support the glass bottle from rolling around. I'm glad it didn't get crushed or break in transit. All in all, very satisfied with this product!

A True All-Purpose Sauce
I bought this to support Kimono Mom because I've been following her channel for some time. This is also my first time writing an Amazon review and it's 100% because this is truly an amazing product! The Umami-sauce really functions as THE all-purpose sauce for ALL your cooking needs. This can pretty much be your soy sauce/tsuyu/marinade/flavor booster AND apparently you can spray this onto popcorn or drizzle on your ice cream?! I have not tried this yet and I'm very excited to do so after I get my hands on some ice cream!! So far I've used it to season my steamed eggs prior to cooking it, then to drizzle on top after it was done; and I've also used it as a marinade/sauce for steamed fish.In some ways, the umami sauce reminds me of Yondu (I haven't compared them side by side, but it might be interesting to try). I'm just glad there's more products out there that make cooking easy, delicious, and something to look forward to!UPDATE: Have tried this on icecream and it's actually really good?? It tastes kind of like salted caramel, but best to drizzle a very very small amount.

Delicious!
Even though this is for the old listing and the original bottle, this stuff is really good! Not too salty like normal soy sauce, and gives pretty much everything you add to it that nice umami flavor. A little goes a very long way.

Tasty sauce!
I'd been following Kimono Mom and Sutan on YouTube for quite some time, @KimonoMom. Because of her YouTube channel, I decided to try her Umami Sauce.I'm used to making many Japanese dishes (I'm Japanese-American). I've substituted Umami Sauce in some recipes and it was delicious!I still make dishes the way my mother did, but I do like Umami Sauce and would buy it again.
