Maniology Aqua Topper Smudge-Free Water-Based Clear Top Coat for Nail Art Stamping – 13ml Transparent Polish to Seal Designs Without Streaking or Blurring, No Smear Clear Finishing Lacquer

I had just about given up on foils!! Every single topcoat I put on would melt the color out of the foils and turn them milky and gross. FRUSTRATING. I got this water-based topcoat as a last ditch effort to save my foil adventures. My first attempt with this product was probably user error. I desperately desire having a strong topcoat (not just a water-based). I had read tips that a water-based barrier layer may be the trick. So I did one coat of the Maniology water-based topcoat, let dry for about 20 minutes (foils stayed intact for this part) and then attempted a coat of Miracle Gel over top. As you can see in the photo it didn't go well. Color was still sucked from the foil and it turned milky as it had done so many times before. So I tried again. This time I did TWO coats of the Maniology and let it dry completely overnight. Then I applied the Miracle Gel and voila! No melting, no milkiness! I think I found the trick! Do I think you need to let dry overnight like I did? Probably not, but I do think the Maniology must be COMPLETELY dry and the addition of a second coat seemed to help also. All this being said- this was a trial run done on paper- I have yet to do my nails, but this is the first time I have been able to apply a Miracle Gel topcoat without the foils completely turning to mush so I am excited! I know I can't be the only one who has experienced foil frustrations like this so hopefully this info helps someone out there :) (Sidenote- no UV Curing needed on the Miracle Gel topcoat) Update: worked like a charm on my nails. TWO coats Maniology, wait until COMPLETELY dry, one coat Miracle Gel and they look great. Minimal cracking/shrinking, and most importantly the foils kept their shine, color, and structure!! This makes me incredibly happy!

I got this topcoat because it was specifically supposed to not bleed foil transfer papers. For the most part, it did a good job with this. However using it over any actual polish causes bleeding of the polish color. I didn’t even make it through a full set of nails before my bright white polish started looking yellow and dingy after using the topcoat. Really disappointed. Especially frustrating on nails that have both transfer foil and colored polish…
