Viking Revolution Extreme Hold Hair Pomade for Men - Spiced Vanilla - 4 oz

This Viking Revolution sandalwood pomade is easily the best hair product I’ve used so far. The scent stands out right away. It smells great without being overpowering, and it actually lasts throughout the day. The hold is strong and reliable. Once you style your hair, it stays in place all day without needing to rework it. It also dries fairly quickly and leaves a nice, mild shine that doesn’t look greasy. One of the biggest positives for me is that it doesn’t leave any white flakes, even after a long day. I’ve had that issue with other gels and pomades, so this was a huge plus. This is the first pomade I've tried that's made in China, and I'm pleasantly surprised. It's easy to apply, doesn't feel sticky or greasy, has a pleasant scent, and washes out without any trouble. The hold is solid and comparable to the pomades I usually use. I didn't realize it was made in China when I placed my order, so it would be helpful if that information were included in the product listing. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the pomade and would definitely buy it again.

Smells amazing! I love the smell it has. It is like a spicy cinnamon smell and it is very addicting to smell. Applying it is really easy and washes off fairly easy without any extra water. It was a lot less than I expected however, would consider buying a bigger one if available.

Revised 2-October-2025 I am altering this review to five stars after careful consideration. First and foremost, this is a superior product. It truly leaves no residue and you can simply wipe your hands after application and it comes right off. It lasts all day in the hair without any stiffness or residue flaking off. My original commentary was more about the smell of oud. As I am accustomed to deep black Arabian oud, I came to the product with a certain expectation, however in reality in smelling other oud Centre products made for the American market, it is 100% consistent with what is out there and what is considered “oud” in the USA. I highly recommend this product on every level. ——- This is a great product; gel like in consistency with no sticky residue. I even used it in my beard and it works fantastically well. I give it three stars for those qualities. With that said, I searched for a men’s hair product that smelled of oud & this is how I came across it. Oud was likely the first thing I smelled upon birth and have used it on my body my entire life. While the product has a nice, woody scent I cannot in all honesty say that it smells like traditional oud on any level. Perhaps it’s a lighter “oud like” version developed for the western market, I don’t know. If you’re expecting a true Arabic oud-bakhour kind of aroma, you will not find it in this product. I’ll continue to purchase it based on its performance but not its scent.

Ordered this pomade looking for something with a strong hold and a different kind of scent, and it definitely stands out. The hold is legit. The scent is what really separates it. The oud profile is rich, a little earthy, and not your typical “fresh” hair product smell. It sticks around without being overpowering, and it’s noticeable in a good way. After a few uses, what stood out most is how consistent it is—easy to apply, spreads evenly, and washes out without a fight. And I’ll say this—my wife definitely noticed. It’s one of those products that gets a reaction, which is always a plus. Compared to other pomades I’ve used, this one balances hold and scent better than most, especially at this price point. For the price, it’s a great value. Strong hold, unique scent, and solid performance make it an easy one to keep in rotation.

I've ordered and tremendously enjoyed the Extreme Firm version from Viking over the years. It's THE strongest, stickiest product and the only one that's a match for my ridiculously thick and heavy hair (and yet somehow it washes out cleanly and quickly - it's magic). It even feels sticky when you put your fingers in the jar before you apply the product to your hair. It gives me confidence that this stuff will keep my mane tamed. Few products can pull this off. By accident I ordered the newer EXTREME pomade with Spiced Vanilla scent. Since it's "extreme" I assumed it'll be the same strength as my beloved Extreme Firm Hold one, just with a scent. It is not. The Extreme Spiced Vanilla must be referring to how extreme the FRAGRANCE is, not how the hold should be extreme - because it isn't. It's far weaker and far less sticky than the old "Extreme Firm Hold". Swipe your finger in it and it feels like the usual weak stuff from other companies. The spiced Vanilla scent is ok at first but kinda gross (to me) after a few minutes. It's too strong (especially since I had to had MUCH more product compared to the old Extreme Firm version. I'm kinda confused how this can be so much weaker despite the name suggesting otherwise. I won't be getting any more of their new lines and stick to the old Extreme Firm Hold formula. Note: if you don't need the super strong hold and don't mind the smell, this product is probably fine, though not really special compared to competitors. Since I feel misled by the "Extreme" promise, I'm giving this only 3 stars. Vikings, don't mislead your customers. Even long time fans like me don't like to feel misled and will drop you for this sort of thing. Side notes: medium to kinda firm hold, medium to high shine, value OK but only if you understand it's not as strong as the name suggests, the smell is strong, and there are many alternatives from competitors, sometimes at a lower price point.

This is amazing hair product. You need very little to do a whole lot. If you have long hair curl your wavy hair just holds it in place. Gives it a nice shine. It brings out your texture. Excellent product not Kiki. Doesn’t have a bad odor. It’s excellent literally try it.

I’ve used Viking Revolution’s clay pomade before, but this water-based spiced vanilla version has quickly become my favorite. The biggest improvement is wash-out: the clay formula always left some residue behind even after a thorough shampoo, but this one rinses completely clean with no buildup. It still delivers the strong hold I need to style and shape throughout the day, so I’m not sacrificing performance for the easier cleanup. The spiced vanilla scent is a nice bonus too — pleasant without being overpowering. If you’ve tried Viking Revolution’s clay products and liked the hold but not the wash-out hassle, this is the better option.

This is a really nice pomade. The vanilla is nice and strong and the hold is definitely extreme. It's just as strong as any gel I've used. Rinses out really easily and can restyle with just a little bit of water. I will probably buy this again.

Used it a few times for work and business. It holds hair well with a good manly smell. Wash away easily in shower. Very happy with the purchase.

I bought this pomade, looking to get into the 'Viking Revolution' style, and I have mixed feelings about it. On the positive side, the hold is genuinely good. Once my hair is styled, it stays exactly where I want it all day long. The smell is also quite nice, very clean, and manly I enjoy the fragrance it leaves. However, the main issue for me is the texture. It's noticeably greasy. My hair not only feels greasy to the touch, but it also translates into a bit of a personal problem: my wife has mentioned she doesn't like to rub my head when I use this product because of the heavy, slick feeling it leaves behind. While the performance is there in terms of hold, the persistent greasy residue makes me hesitant about committing. I'm using it up for now, but I'm not yet sold on repurchasing this one. It's a decent product, but it definitely has a downside in the feel department.

My favourite hair product. Good hold. Can look slick or dry, depending on how well you work it it. More of a gel than a pomade, but whatever. It performs, smells nice, and it's reasonably priced.

Priced well, smells nice and holds great, but it loses a star due to stinging like crazy if your hair gets wet and runs into your eyes.
