Good product but be sure it will work for you
I have two types of trash bins. This strap works well on the black bin in my pictures. One end of the strap snaps around the steel tube that forms the lid hinge. The strap does not work as well on the brown bin in my pictures. One end of the strap snaps around the molded plastic that forms the lid hinge. It is a snug fit. This end unsnaps when I pull the strap down the back of the can to attach to the wheel axle on pickup days because the hinge end cannot spin around the hinge. This can is opened by lifting the front edge of the lid. There is no separate handle molded into the lid. Using the front end of the strap to lift the lid is prevented by the lip molded into the bin. I can work around these issues but they reduce the value of this strap as a lid lock.Note well that the manufacturer states that this strap has NOT been tested against bears. This strap probably would barely slow down a bear. You need a much tougher solution if you need a bear resistant trash can. It probably will work to stop small to medium sized animals. It is a good solution to contain trash if the can is blown over by wind. The main weakness is the need to remove the strap on pickup days. That can leave the lid vulnerable for quite a few hours. The strap itself is well made. It works well on the right bins. But it may or may not provide the lid protection you need.

Well made, but may not fit your particular bin
First off, the strap and its clips are good quality. The instructions are well written, and there is even a warning on the strap to be careful if it snaps. They even tell you how to arrange the strap on trash pickup days so it doesn't swing loose while the bin is handled. That's the good news. Bad news is, it may not fit your particular bin model. We have four bins (1 trash, 1 recycle, and 2 for yard waste) in 3 different models, and the strap only fits as designed on one of them. On the yard waste bins, the handles are too thick for the clip so that's a non-starter. It clips just fine onto the trash and recycle bin handles, but the pickup-day trick of clipping the other end on the wheel axle doesn't work because you can't access the axle on that bin. See photos.I'm bummed because if the clips fit my bins I would love to use it on all of them. If you have the kind of bin they were designed for, then I highly recommend this product.

The not greatest quality but they will work.
It works but they are cheaply made, I don't know how long they will last.I got this to see if it would be easier to use during a hurricane/tropical storm than the ratcheting tie downs I usually use. They will work but I'm not going to pay the price for more of them, since they are not the greatest quality. I'll stick to the tie downs I use, plus the tie downs are long enough to tie the cans to a tree and keep the lid from opening. My garbage cans are not going anywhere. If you need this to keep animals out of your trash cans, then I believe this will work great for that. You can also attach it so that you can open your trash can without having to touch the trash can.

Fabulous - no more rocks!
For years we've used a couple big granite rocks to keep our bins closed against the raccoons, so I was excited to try out this strap as a more convenient (and safer for the feet) alternative. They really thought of everything - the strap is adjustable length to fit any size bin, and is stretchy so you can pull it down snug over the lid. The clasps lock on nicely to the rear handle and the front, and if you have it sufficiently tightened you can "store" the strap when you are putting things in the bin by just hooking it onto the front of the lid instead of the front of the bin - it's a quick one-handed operation. I was also wondering how to keep my teenagers from leaving it loose on garbage night and getting it lost in the truck - BinClaw handles that too, recommending that you just stretch it the other way and hook the back axle on pickup night (which works fine).Haven't had it for long but so far no raccoon incursions - I'll update the review if they do get in, and in the meantime have ordered two more for my other bins. No more rocks!

Holds Tight
The media could not be loaded. The BinClaw Trash Can Lid Lock solves the annoying and messy problem of uncovered garbage cans. I have the large 95 gallon wheeled trash can supplied by my sanitation company. Multiple times I have had the lid blown open during storms. As we all know, this results in rain filling the can, trash blowing out and around the neighborhood and rodents getting into the trash. In the past we tried to prevent this by putting a rock on top of the lid which usually meant that both the rock and the lid blew off.The BinClaw Trash Can Lid Lock is easy to install, easy to use and will put an end to open lids once and for all. To install it, all you have to do is snap the single red end onto the handle and snap one side of the double end to the skirt under the lid opening. Use the other side to lift and remove the strap. There is an adjustment buckle on the strap that can loosen or tighten the strap to fit your can. On trash pick up day, you don’t even have to remove it, simply take the double end and hook it to the wheel axle below the handle to store it out of the way. We have had 2 bad storms since we installed the BinClaw and it has worked flawlessly with no blown off lid. It's a convenient solution to a messy problem.

Super Easy to Install, Does Not Work for All Treash Cans
I previously got a bin lid lock where it was this contraption that you put under the trash can and then it was supposed to stretch up to the top. I almost got my hands got several times trying to install it and never got it to work. This one is super easy to install. However, two things. One, the strap isn't center on my bin because it isn't a bar across the entire back. There is a solid piece to the lid like some of the pics (sorry no pics, we just got several inches of snow). Also, I do not have a I don't have a bar at the back of the bin by the wheels. You are supposed to place the lock on that on garbage days. It will fit on a groove on the lid lip but concerned it will fall off.
