Excellent
For car owners who want to keep their engines running smoothly and efficiently, Castrol Edge Extended Performance 5W-30 is an expert choice. This advanced full synthetic motor oil is designed for modern vehicles and suits drivers who demand reliability and enhanced engine protection, whether commuting daily or tackling long road trips. The standout feature of this motor oil is its strong resistance to breakdown even under intense conditions. Castrol uses its proprietary Titanium Fluid Strength Technology, which helps maintain a stable oil film on engine parts, reducing metal-to-metal contact and wear. This means the engine stays protected longer, boosting longevity and performance. I noticed my car’s engine felt quieter and ran cooler, which is always a welcome difference. Another benefit is the extended oil change interval. Castrol Edge Extended Performance 5W-30 can go further between changes compared to conventional oils, which not only saves time but also reduces maintenance costs. Plus, it maintains excellent flow at low temperatures, ensuring quick lubrication when starting your vehicle in cold weather. Overall, this motor oil offers a great balance of performance and protection. It’s well-suited for anyone looking to preserve their engine’s health without compromise. If you want advanced, long-lasting synthetic oil that delivers a noticeable boost in engine smoothness and efficiency, Castrol Edge Extended Performance 5W-30 is definitely worth considering.

No contest.
I may be bias, but I've been running some formula of Castrol in every single one of my vehicles since I could drive. However, I did go through a nearly decade long phase of running every shelf oil imaginable, and this generation of Castrol Edge takes the cake. First and foremost, I run the EP platform as I like the overkill on my rig because not only do I live in AZ, but I also abuse the hell out of my cars, and when I say abuse, I mean that they are my money makers and my daily. I keep to the 5k intervals on my Tundra because it takes 6 months anyway, but in that time, I tow a lot, short trip it like crazy, floor it on the interstate or to get around those pesky snowbirds that flood our roads, we take 5-6 long trips every year through various terrain and mountainous switchbacks, 2-3 camping trips, off road, you name it, this trucks done it. Anyway, the performance from Castrol is the most consistent I've ever seen out of any synthetic in the last 8 years. ESPECIALLY For the price point. I've run AMSOIL EP and that was an astounding oil but too rich for my blood and since I change the oil at 5k anyway, I hardly see the value. As this Gold bottle Castrol is one AMSOIL won't test against, or at least, they won't post it anymore, But they'll test against the standard black bottle edge, and against their signature series, and it comes darn close, yes, their base oil is second to none, but is it worth the massive difference in cost? Castrol is best for its heat retention and shear stability. And I think that's where this performance factor comes into play. Mobil1 and Valvoline made me think my rings were sticking and I was having consumption issues, nope, not a drop with Castrol, not on my ford, not on my Honda, my Toyota, any subaru, or my Chevy. The only other one coming close was Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, but it would rob MPG's and I'd have a LOT of top end noise. M1 would shear to a 5w20 to by 1000 miles and I'd be 1/2 to 1 quart down by 2k. Valvoline, was better but still would start to lag the engine a little when stressed, pressures would dip enough for the engine to really start to work to keep itself cool though I really like it overall. I'd like to point out, Castrol GTX, EDGE and EDGE EP are the only shelf oils that read "exceeds API standards" rather than "meets or exceeds". Which some would brush off as legal jargain and marketing, which would be true, but if you dive deeper into how oil batches are manufactured, then it suggests more consistency in their manufacturing. Especially when you have an ACEA rated oil in a U.S. Cafe spec. That's a pretty robust formula. All in all, take it with a grain of salt, understand there's no vehicle in the world that operates under "normal" driving conditions and use quality, oil and filters you trust on a regular "severe" maintenance schedule, and you'll be fit as a fiddle. This bodes for all fluids, But this stuff has carried my truck and my family all over the US for the past 80k out of its 200k with consistent performance throughout the entire service interval.

had surprising results using this oil.
I have a 2006 Honda Pilot. Love this car. Well had some problem with the engine (the place that serviced it did not replace the oil and the engine blew long story) they replaced the engine and dont know what oil they put in. The engine started leaking and smoking after I got it back. They did not replace the seals and gaskets would should be done by any competent mechanic before putting in a used engine. So i drove the car around making sure the oil was topped off and the smoke did dissipate after about a week but i would always smell burning oil after driving the car. Time came for an oil change and i decided to do it myself looked on amazon and this had a good rating. changed the oil (first time in my life i had done it myself, make fun of me if you want). well being paranoid i put down a piece of cardboard and went out to check every once in a while hoping that i did it right and no oil was leaking from my work. Well i did it right and drove the car. Well when i drove the car to work (i commute 180 miles daily) I did not smell the oil burning. looked under car and where the oil was leaking before (rear main seal, oil pan gasket area) NO LEAKS! Now I was skeptical it was the oil but looked online and their is evidence a good synthetic for high mileage cars can restore the seals and possibly gaskets depending on the make of the car. I am more than happy. and this oil is at a decent price compared to walmart or auto zone ect. So I would highly recommend this for your vehicle, I wont say it will do what it did to mine but it is worth a try.
