Pleasantly Surprised by the Flavor and Size!
I recently tried Wild Planet White Anchovies and was pleasantly surprised by both their size and taste.**Size and Appearance:**When I first opened the can, I was surprised to find that these anchovies are sardine-sized. I was expecting the smaller, more traditional anchovy size, but the larger size actually made them more versatile in my cooking. Excellent for sardine sandwiches!**Taste and Texture:**The flavor is where these anchovies really shine. They have a lighter, milder taste compared to regular sardines, making them a great option for those who might find sardines too strong. The texture is firm yet tender, and they are packed in olive oil, which adds a nice richness without overpowering their natural flavor.**Versatility:**I've used them in salads, pasta dishes, and even on toast. Their lighter flavor means they blend well with other ingredients without being too dominant. They’ve added a delightful umami boost to everything I’ve tried them in.**Packaging:**The can is easy to open. The oil they are packed in is also of good quality, adding to the overall taste experience.**Overall:**I highly recommend Wild Planet White Anchovies for anyone looking to try a milder, more versatile fish. The unexpected size was a surprise, but their delicious, lighter flavor more than makes up for it. I will definitely be buying these again!

So many things wrong with this
Wild Planet is a big enough to do much better. The info they put out about this is confusing if not deceptive, and the product itself took a dive into the trash, even from what it was a year ago. This used to be decent sardine like can of fish, specifically Peruvian anchovies (Engraulis ringens), a product of the Pacific, and now it is European anchovies (Engraulis encrasicolus), a product of Morocco (and not a good example of something from there). When it was the Peruvian anchovies, they were plump and tasty, basically sardines--nothing like regular anchovies, and also nothing like the Spanish Boquerones white anchovies, but pretty good; now, they are sad brown lumps of mush in a small sea of putrid tasting olive oil that reminds one of a kalamata olive found in a mildewy basement after years past.

Not what we expected, wouldn't buy again
These are not anchovy filets, they are whole fish. If you plan to use them on a baguette, you'll need to filet them yourself. That's disappointing. And the flavor is very mild - more like sardines than anchovies. Overall disappointing and we wouldn't buy again.

Sardines
Tgese are fat and thick and taste like sardines, not anchovies. Good sardines. Bad anchovies.

If you like anchovies...
If you like anchovies, you will like Wild Planet. These are the "white" variety, on the mild side of things, without the excessive fishiness that sometimes accompanies anchovies.
