This Book Will Make You An Artist

It’s no wonder this book has won multiple awards. It’s wonderfully written to spark young imaginations, packed with fun and clever (yet refreshingly simple) activities, and it is so beautifully presented that it feels like a piece of art in its own right. My 5-year-old son and I will enjoy this book for years to come. It’s also become my go-to Christmas gift… I love it so much that my friends’ children will all be receiving copies under the tree too!

I recently got this book for my daughter, who’s passionate about art—and she absolutely loved it! It’s such a great way to introduce kids to art history in a fun and meaningful way.

I contend this is not a book just for children, I’ve been in art education all my working life and I truly believe this will inspire people of all ages to get stuck in to making art. It will also teach you lots of stuff about the artists selected. I didn’t know Hokusai moved house 93 times during his life because he was more interested and dedicated to his art than to cleaning. It’s full of fascinating snippets of information and helpful tips about art practice and art history. And deals with the thorny problem of presents for grandchildren for birthdays and Christmas this year. Well done Ruth.

Bought for my 14 year old daughter, she is going to love delving into the many, many different styles, encouraged by the step by step guides and amazing illustrations. Great value and sure to help her through her GCSE in art. Equally, it's suitable for younger readers

I bought this book for activity ideas to use with my students and was very pleased with the contents. It has a wealth of activities to create art in the styles of a diverse range of artists, with each having a double page spread dedicated to them. What really impressed me is that the instructions provide step by step instructions for beginners so that they can replicate the art, but the activities are so varied that more proficient children will be exposed to new ideas which they can build on. Each page also has a synopsis of the background of each artist, to prompt curiosity and further reading. Looking forward to guiding my students into making optical illusions using the Bridget Riley pages in my Maths lesson!

Interesting well laid out book

Book is very high quality. Well written and beautifully illustrated, it will be the perfect Christmas gift for my nephew.

A wonderful range of artists for children to learn about and create a piece of work inspired by their creative practices and styles. Good resource for Primary school teachers and children art tutors, as well as parents needing some fun art ideas. It's suitable for people with little or no art backgrounds too as it's very user friendly!

Super nice book soon cool to discover different artists and craft art like them. Truly recommend!

I picked this up originally at the library and decided it was worth purchasing. It has a lot of information and nice art projects.

This book is great for teaching art class at co-op. It has a great history lesson on an artist plus a project to make. Students and I are both enjoying it!

Easily accessible, love the illustration style and the diversity of artists covered - this gave me some great ideas/jumping off points for lesson plans for my art students, but would be a great book for younger artists at home too
