I purchased a copy of this book almost a month ago and realized this morning that I had not yet written a review so here I am. I can't recommend this book highly enough and I give it five stars and would give it more if they were available. As an autistic women myself I found this book so helpful. That it is a visual guide makes it all the better for me because the layout is easy for me to read. I nodded my head in affirmation all the way through the book and found it so helpful I took it to my therapy appointment (diagnosing doctor) to share the descriptions with him because they are so spot on to who I am. It's been so helpful to me that I purchased a second copy and I will be gifting it to my therapist. Thank you Alis. I'll be purchasing the rest of your visual guides as well. I'm reading my way through your book, The Girl With The Curly Hair - Aspergers and Me right now. Another highly recommended read.

Alis Rowe is amazing and so inspiring she writes with such truth
Alis Rowe is amazing and so inspiring she writes with such truth! All Alis books help me to understand my condition and how to cope, without Alis books I would feel less alone.Alis books are easy to understand as they have big writing and lots of visuals I'm an aspie myself so this is an amazing find.Alis information comes from a real place as Alis has Aspergers.in This book Alis Talks about social energy there are some great diagrams in the book on how parents and the child themselves can help understand themselves better.I bought this book to help me understand myself better I now know and understand why I struggle with social situations and that I don't "have to" go to social things and how I can prevent myself from having a meltdown and the anxiety that goes with this and choose my social situations. The book has great understanding of the difference between neurotupcials and social anxiety and AspergersAnother great book AlisThank you againKatie xx

NOT JUST FOR GIRLS!
This book about social energy has changed our lives so much for the better. My 15 year old son has Asperger's Syndrome, and really struggles with diminished social energy. It takes him a long time to recover from any interaction outside of the house. His psychiatrist nor CAMHS could explain his need for long bouts of sleep after school or social events. Now, thanks to Alis, we understand his needs better, and have used the strategies given in this book to assist him to schedule in rest and recharge days, and to have an improved quality of life. The book is just as relevant to boys as it is to girls. The lively cartoon strip design works especially well for boys who aren't keen on reading wordy books. I would describe this as an essential read for anyone with ASC and their families, as well as professionals involved with people with ASC.

Easy to read, informative and practical advice/strategies given
Another great book, written so well by ‘The girl with the curly hair’, to add to our growing collection! We love these books because, they’re simply laid out, easy to read and not too wordy. But best of all they are written by a young women who has Aspergers, and knows what she’s talking about and therefore, my daughter does not feel patronised. Some great strategies to help children and young people cope with socialising and how to best conserve/manage their social energies. Thank you Alis, we have our eye on a few more of your books.

Aspie mum
I have many of these traits and I am amazed to see how many of the coping strategies I have implemented by instinct over the years. The good news is that without even being formally diagnosed ,I eventually learned how to keep friends and married a man who loves me hugely.I bought this book to help me with my aspie daughter!
