Very useful both for setting a sample-based colour balance before you shoot and also in post.
The Datacolor Spyder Checkr Photo (2024) colour accuracy chart is a small, plastic booklet weighing in at just over 100g (including lanyard) and measuring 97mm wide by 121mm tall by 13mm thick. You open it out by pressing the button in the middle of the right hand side and then pulling the top away from it or by pushing the bottom away. All of the surfaces are curved such that it can be difficult to hold for example, when you are trying to open it and it can slip out of your hands if they are dry. Fortunately, it comes with a lanyard.Inside are four faces, each displaying a four by six array of colour tone squares. The first two sides show a six-part grey scale and 18 colour squares each. These represent the sort of range of colours and densities you can expect to find in photographs and by being a standard, allow you to correct the densities in your image. There is a program that you can get that will look at these and produce a colour correction profile for you to use on your images. The second two sides are standard greys so you can use these to make sure your curves are correct using software that allows you to manipulate curves for each colour layer - red, green and blue - setting them so that they are the same as each other - correcting for broad excentricities in the lighting conditionsOne colour problems that the colour accuracy chart is not very good at solving is that of irregular light sources. In the comparison image, you can see the colour patches illuminated by the two light sources and both have been balanced for red, green and blue using the grey scale as you normally would. On the whole, the patches are fairly close to each other and you would think that it was all right but the pine cone reveals the deficiencies in the lighting by appearing quite pink in comparison - the orange that the cone reflects in the full-spectrum light (around 600nm which shows up both in the red layer of the sensor and the green layer) doesn't show up in the RGB image where the light source hasn't got that wavelength in it so,without that bit of green, it looks pink. This colour patch card is quite useful insofar as you can: use it as your test card sample to set the colour balance on your camera before you take a picture of anything else; and, make sure that your colour curves are properly matched with a standard in post processing. Its weakness is that it is delicate - it is not at all waterproof and you shouldn't touch the surface - and the smooth curved design makes it difficult to hold and as a result, you are more likely to damage it.

Well-Constructed, small size Color Checker
The Spyder Checkr Photo's small size is a real plus. It is small enough for any camera bag and the included lanyard makes the color checker even more accessible. The plastic case is rugged and protects the color charts. It folds out into 3 sections making it easy to rest upright on a flat surface, if you don't have a subject to hold it. Like all color checkers, it is pricey, but worth it if color accuracy is important to you. I highly recommend this product.

Very useful
Very useful! The software is very strange but it is working! The one and only problem is that I have to shoot it perfectly horizontally aligned or I have to crop and rotate it after that
