Brother MFC-L2820DW XL Wireless Compact Monochrome All-in-One Laser Printer with Copy, Scan and Fax, Duplex, Black & White | Up to 4,200 Pages of Toner Included(1), Works with Alexa

After years of struggling with inkjets and wasting more ink than I actually used in printing, I finally gave up and bought a toner-based laserjet. Should have done that years ago, but they were so expensive and inkjets were so cheap. Live and learn. I downloaded the EzeSetup as recommended. The printer worked fine printing internal reports and copying, but wouldn't receive print jobs from the wired network, the wireless network, or the USB plugged directly between the printer and the PC. All print jobs showed being sent then changed to "error". Being one who likes to figure things out myself, I kept banging my head against the printer (didn't affect the printer but gave me a headache). Eventually, I saw a link on a Brother support page to a download of the full package for my printer, complete with all drivers, associated software, everything. After I downloaded and installed that package, the set up went flawlessly. Within a few minutes, I was printing and was very happy!! About my only complaint would be the sounds the printer makes to, I guess, let you know it's received your instructions and is processing them. It's easily turned off or turned down through the display screen, though, so it's easily fixed. The printer is quick, reasonably quiet, and turns out great black & white pages; crisp, clear, and easy to read.

I upgraded from my prior monochrome MFC Brother printer, scanner and fax machine, which was a work horse which lasted me 10 plus years ...so far this newer model of the same product is working great, the photocopied documents are crisp and clear, I'm am very satisfied with this choice...

Good B/W printer at a decent price. Great addition to my home office. Excellent connectivity and easy to use through either the Brother app or Apple’s native printer app on my iPhone.

Setup and print, scan, fax via wifi frommthe first attempt from both glass and the Win 11 pc. Print quality excellemt. If you need a black and white aio printer, give it consideration.

A solid choice with good print and scan quality. You may experience wifi connectivity issues, and printer may fail to stay connected to the network. This would happen when the router uses dynamic ip. To address connectivity issues, just use fixed ip for the printer, and reserve the printer’s ip address in the router settings as well.

This printer is a waste of money. After 5 months, the print quality is terrible (patchy dark/light areas). Even after trying 3 different toners, the problem persists. Customer service refused to help, telling me to pay for a new Drum myself because "consumables aren't covered." If a printer fails this quickly and the company won't fix it, it’s a bad product. This brand is officially on my blacklist.

I read many of the reviews for this printer and was convinced I could set this up (make the printer communicate with my desktop). Not so simple. I followed the directions included and got online to download the "connection guide" from the Brother website. The size of the print from the Brother website download is ridiculously small AND you can't read everything in the frame on the screen AND the scroll didn't work AND I couldn't enlarge the frame! Aaaarrgghh!! (I can't imagine trying to do the set-up from my phone). Then the downloaded "wizard" asks if I wanted WiFi hook up or USB or land line (is one better than the other?). Then the "wizard" instructed me to enter the network name and network passcode. Huh?! What's an SSI anyway? I was stuck. I ended up calling a computer/tech expert. He laughed and said it is easy to set-up if you know how to avoid the directions provided. Over the phone, he walked me through setting it up from the printer's touchscreen rather than my desktop. Within three minutes and a $55.00 service fee, I was up and running! My previous Brother printer finally died after 18 years so I did not hesitate to buy another Brother. It easily and comfortably fits on my desk (next to my tower and screen) which makes it super convenient to access. It came with two toner cartridges and the drum. It's not too loud when printing. Because I set it up for wireless, I didn't need any additional cables but I suspect if it was hooked up non-wirelessly, I may have needed another cord that was NOT provided. I am very pleased with the printer so far. I strongly suggest you have access to a tech guru (or maybe a teenager?) to help walk you through the set-up rather than relying on Brother's website download.

Connected via the ethernet - printing and manual scanning working very well. Have not tried the fax or the auto feeder. Like large paper capacity. Used option to turn off the sound, as the device otherwise plays a little tune every time I turn on my computer. Also, oddly when I turn my computers on Wi-Fi on or switch the Wi-Fi connection the printer comes out of sleep mode, whirs a bit, and then go back to sleep.

Premièrement assurez vous qu'amazon vous envoie le bon modèle, ils m'ont expédié le modèle 2820dw alors que j'ai payé pour le 2820dwXL. Ça pris plusieurs jours pour corriger leurs erreurs, plusieurs agents. Brother laser sont de très bonnes qualités mais le modèle XL ne prend pas en charge le 11x17 comme indiqué dans la description. Tout ce cassage de tête avec le retour du mauvais modèle, l'expédition du bon modèle, les 2 jours perdu à attendre la livraison parce qu'il faut donner un code de sécurité pour finalement un modèle standard, c'est fachant étant donné que je l'ai acheté pour le format 11x17.
