Shaves like my 25-year-old Braun, fingernail to release head
My old Braun crapped out. It was more rectangular shaped and it had button releases on either side of the head to make it easy to remove. This razor is t-shaped, lighter, but it is awkward to remove the head as there are no release buttons. Rather, you need to get your fingernail in between to remove the head for cleaning. After a week's worth of removing the head I've finally got it down to where I feel comfortable removing it. Putting it back on is easy. Also, there is no built-in trimmer. My old Braun had a flip up trimmer built in whereas this one you remove the head and replace it with the included trimmer and snap it on. Kind of a pain. Otherwise I think the razor is great. Holds a great charge, smooth shave, and lightweight. UPDATE: since using shaver for 6 months I've put some pictures in demonstrating the removal and replacement of the head and of the trimmer. You need Strong fingernails to separate the heads from the razor itself. It's a bit inconvenient, but once you get used to it, it's really not that bad. The battery on this is great. Granted, I shave every 3 days, but the charge on this lasted for over 4 weeks. That would be at least 12 times on a single charge. Again, depending on the heaviness of your beard and frequency of shaving. I would not spend the extra money on the cleaning base with solution as that gets expensive as with my previous Braun razor. Now I just buy a can of lubricant spray meant for razors and a can of compressed air to clean out the razor head. Works great and it's cheap. I like the razor very much short of some of it's minor inconveniences.

Great for day-to-day cleanup, travel, and twice-a-week shaving
I like to be clean-shaven. This Braun Series 7 was intended to be an upgrade from my previous razor, a Remington F5-5800, which served me well for several years. The Braun is quieter and smoother on the face, and has an excellent trimmer, case, and battery life. The first thing I noticed when shaving with the Series 7 was how quiet it was when compared with the F5-5800. It's still a machine, so it still makes noise. But I no longer feel like I have to close the door to my bathroom for a dry shave when my wife is on the other side of the house. The second thing I noticed was that my face did not feel nearly as roughed up. I didn't know that an electric razor could feel so smooth. While it is best to apply aftershave, a moisturizer, or oils after each shave, I wouldn't hesitate to use the Series 7 dry without any of that in a pinch. As a matter of fact, I did just that immediately before pictures for a close relative's wedding the week after receiving this. If I miss a few days of shaving, the foil on this will pull at a bristle here and there, which hurts, but that is to be expected with foil. Foil is made for removing very short bristles. The precision beard trimmer is the perfect solution. It is quick and effective at taking 1/8" bristles down to a foil-friendly length. Even after going over my face twice (trimmer then foil), my dry shaves are less than 10 minutes, including clean-up. I have not tried this with a wet shave. I had expected that I would need to use the SmartCare center every few shaves. I have been using it for a month and a half (maybe ~15 shaves) and it has not yet prompted me to clean it with the center (there's an indicator light for that). The manual instructs to rinse the head with hot water after each use, and I do. I hope that delays the need to use the cleaner, because the product reviews I have read indicate that the cleaner is not cheap, though in the long run still cheaper than disposable razors. The travel case has been great! I visit family rather regularly and overnights are common. The case is sturdy and holds the shaver, trimmer, and mini cleaner brush. It does not fit the charger, but I have not needed it, because the battery is also great. In the month and a half I have been using this shaver, I have only needed to charge it twice, even though it did not come with a full battery. I'd guess that the battery lasts ~10 shaves.

Best electric razor out there
After using the Braun Series 7 Flex Electric Razor for a while, I have come to appreciate its exceptional attention to detail, from its design to its performance. Firstly, the razor has a robust and solid build designed to withstand everyday use, making it a reliable and long-lasting product. Its ergonomic shape makes it easy to grip and handle, while its flexible head effortlessly adjusts to the contours of my face, ensuring that every hair is reached for a smooth and precise shave. The razor's cutting-edge technology ensures that it smoothly glides over the skin without snagging or pulling hair, thanks to its micro-vibrations that capture even the shortest hairs. This technology also minimizes the risk of irritation and razor burn, leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth. Another feature that stands out is the razor's self-cleaning option, eliminating manual cleaning. The cleaning cartridge automatically lubricates and sanitizes the razor, saving time and ensuring that the razor remains hygienic and efficient. Furthermore, the Braun Series 7 Flex Electric Razor is designed to work equally well in both wet and dry conditions, making it highly versatile. The razor is waterproof, allowing me to conveniently use it in the shower, with shaving cream or gel, without worrying about damaging it. Lastly, the razor is cordless and rechargeable, with a long-lasting battery life that can provide up to 50 minutes of shaving time on a single charge. This makes it convenient for use during travel or on the go without worrying about needing a power outlet. Overall, the Braun Series 7 Flex Electric Razor is a high-quality product with exceptional performance, convenience, and versatility, making it an ideal choice for anyone who desires a smooth and effortless shaving experience.

Very nice shave! Sometimes. This is an update. Three stars instead of previous 5
Well, after months of use the razor is a bit of a disappointment. If you’ve mistakenly let your beard grow over a weekend, out comes the long hair trimmer, and you have to give your whole face a going over with it before using the shaving head. Even then, it’s a sloooow proposition. This shaver really only likes to cut short hair. The snap-on/snap-off long hair trimmer is a literal pain in the neck to have to use. Why Braun couldn’t integrate the long hair trimmer into the main razor chassis, I cannot understand. I’m sure that the constant swapping is going to result in the plastic parts of shaving head or trimmer snapping off. And then what? Finally, I note that the clean and charge stand uses a lot more of the precious Braun essences than previous models have. Doesn’t take too many cleanings before the yellow light comes on, and then only a couple more before the lights go red and it doesn’t clean at all. I’m disappointed. —————End of update. This is a preliminary review of the new Braun Series 7 shaver. It is a complete redesign and rethink of the previous Series 7 shavers. I’ve had this unit for less than 2 weeks, so I can only speak to the performance of the razor and not to its endurance. It may, or may not, last a long time; too early to tell. With that caution, let’s proceed. First, Braun talks about 360 degrees rotation. And shows arrows that indicate that the shaving head rotates. No, it does not; this is misleading. It is, however, doubly hinged so that it can flex forward and back over a large range and left-right over a smaller range. This plus the floating cutter blades should enable you to keep razor in contact with skin and whiskers on even the trickiest parts of the face. I generally have a hard time shaving under my nose, but not with this razor. I like the way the cutter assembly foils flex. I also like the design of the foils. It’s hard to see where it differs from the older models, but my face definitely feels better after a shave with the new unit than the old ones. So far, so good. Some cautions: I found that it really matters to use a drop of Braun shaver oil (or equivalent from other suppliers) to lubricate the cutters! If not night and day, then mid day to twilight, if you will. It also, as with all electric shavers, pays to keep the cutters clean. The cleaning/charging stand does well at this; unfortunately, older stands aren’t compatible with new razors, so you’ll either have to buy it with the stand or do without; no recycling of the stand for your older Series 7. But the cleaning cartridges are the same. It’s also useful to take advantage of the waterproofing and to dampen your face with hot water before shaving. Seems to set things up well, as does a good pre-electric shave lotion. The quality of the new series seems a bit higher than the previous units; that’s a subjective judgment, and there are ways for a manufacturer to build in apparent quality w/o actually improving the product. The ergonomics are much nicer than those of the previous series too. Just maybe Braun may have gotten it right this time. It doesn’t look or feel the way Braun shavers of 30 years ago, designed by the great Dieter Rems, did. But it’s pretty good. I’m glad I spent the money.

Outstanding Addition To The Braun Series Lineup
So – the Braun Series 7 7071. First, it's recognizable as a Braun – very ergonomic, comfortable shape, rubberized “grippy" back, signature 3 stage head with two outer foils and a flat center cutter in a familiar Braun cassette. Cosmetically very similar, but that said, it's unlike any of the prior Series shavers that Braun has produced. Although touted as the “new" Series 7, it could be more accurately characterized as a “Series 10,” or a Series 8 if another shaver didn’t already occupy that slot (and the Series 8 is really just a modified 9). There is nothing else like it. The elevated 360 degree swiveling head and detachable trimmer are the signature features of this shaver. Skipping to the bottom line if you want to bypass the details, it delivers a great shave, smooth and comfortable, as good as the older Series 7 (which was excellent) or the Series 9 (which some think is better). Whether it is better than either is completely subjective - for me, perhaps slightly – but the cutters and head (that actually provide the shave) are virtually identical to other Braun offerings, which by themselves are outstanding. This "360" design does seem to keep the foils and cutters aligned and in contact with your face better, with less effort. Advantages: it's cheaper than either shaver. From the Series 7, a little. From the Series 9, a lot. It's slightly faster – with the 360 head, fewer passes, easier to maneuver, and it’s lighter by more than 10 percent. Disadvantages: for some, detachable trimmer. And it does require “fiddling" with this attachment if you use a trimmer, rather than just raising or lowering an attached trimmer. No head lock - if you use this feature, it’s missing in this shaver. General specifications: In size, somewhere between the old Series 7 and the Series 9, although closer to the 9. Slimmer than either, it weighs in at a svelte 6.6 oz, with the Series 7 at a hefty 7.8 oz and the Series 9 just behind at 7.7 oz, although you will note that the Series 9 is a considerably larger razor, with the extra weight of the old Series 7 accounted for by thicker plastic, more metal parts and a more robust build than either the 9 or the 7071. The cassette head of the 7071 is actually wider (1") than the older Series 7 head (3/4"), with a wider flat cutter bar. It has a flatter profile as well, and there appear to be no replacements currently available, with replacement costs also unknown. Ergonomically, it feels perfectly balanced, like most of the Brauns. It's substantially plastic, also like all the newer Brauns (and most modern electrics), but the connecting struts for the swivel arrangement appear to be made of metal. There is a charging port in the end for either cord charging or in the provided cleaning station, and a full charge takes about an hour, with a 5 minute charge for one shave. The charge is reportedly good for 50 minutes. Unlike the Series 9 and earlier Brauns, the charging cord is straight rather than coiled, and fairly long. The shaver is submersible and can be used wet or dry, so cannot be used as a corded shaver, in common with the rest of its rechargeable wet/dry relatives. The display is very basic, with a single vertical line indicating charge level - the shorter the line, the lower the charge. No percentages here. This is actually pretty functional, because I find I never pay much attention to my shavers that do display precise percentages – I generally charge them with every use at home, and when traveling as often as I can. The display also includes icons for cleaning required (two droplets), head replacement (a head shaped icon), and a red lock icon and charge cord icon (when the shaver is locked or charging). Like other Brauns, the shaver can be locked by holding down the power button for 3 seconds, and unlocked the same way. An info button below the main power button displays the status of the shaver when pressed. There is no speed adjustment like the older Series 7, being “automatically“ adjusted for beard thickness like the Series 9. Noise is about the same for shaver or cleaning station (although the absence of a fan makes the station completely silent when not cleaning). Accessories: The cleaning station is also a departure from Braun's traditional cleaning stations. This station is actually closer in function and appearance to the Philips Norelco stations, with a vertical arm that locks in and charges the shaver, rather than just dropping the shaver into the station. Unlike the Norelco stations however, or the other Braun cleaning stations, you can't just charge the shaver in the station – when you press the button on the vertical arm (which you must to lock in the shaver) it begins a cleaning (and charging) cycle, and a second press disconnects the shaver from the charger. There are no icons or indicators at all on the cleaning station – just a blue light on the Start button at the top of the arm, which comes on when the shaver is cleaning or charging, and sequentially turns yellow, then red when the solution needs changing. A plus - like all Braun stations from the Series 7 on - it uses the same alcohol-based cleaning cartridges. The cleaning cycle takes about the same amount of time (less than 3 minutes), and unlike in the Series 7 or 9 stations, there is no active drying cycle - induction or fan – just “drip-dry.” Which, considering the cleaning solution is mostly alcohol, actually works pretty well. Also unlike all the other Braun Series shavers, there us no built-in trimmer – the trimmer is an attachment that must be clicked on and off like the Norelco rotaries. A plus and a minus – easy to replace (presumably if made available), but an extra step and bother when shaving. This however follows the “new" Braun design of having multiple attachments for the shaver – face brush and beard trimmer for example – again very similar to Norelco's “system" design. It does seem to work slightly better as a trimmer than either the Braun built-in or detachable Norelco, and can be reversed for trimming beard or moustache. And unique to this Braun, there is no head lock button or mechanism – the head swivels freely (mainly in the back-and-forth dimension of other Brauns, but also laterally and up and down, although more stiffly – hence the “360” designation). And unlike on other Brauns, there is no head release button – the head and other attachments are removed essentially by “yanking" them off and “snapping” them on, which you must do with each shave if you use the trimmer, and it does take a bit of force. Head and attachments appear to be firmly attached, but not what you may be accustomed to if you’re a prior Braun user, and wear on the swivel mechanism is likely a legitimate concern with this design. Time will tell. Overall, a good addition to Braun's Series lineup - not really a replacement for any of them, but an addition to, depending on what you want in a shaver. There are plenty of choices between them, and the "new" Series 7 adds another - and a good one. Highly recommended.

Not Eligible for Return
THIS ITEM IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN After 5 shaves using this item I do not get a close shave. Everytime I use the shaver I have to then use a razor. I have had this item for a week and Amazon will not let me return it. The reason is Health and Saftey with no further context

Pretty good
Does a great job at zero irritation, super easy to clean. Used braun series 5 5018 for years, now finally stepped up to this one and it's great. It does a much better job preventing skipping stubborn hairs over series 5, and all the tilting is nice and useful, though the usefulness of side-ways tilting is questionable. If I'm being picky, since there's no way to lock the tilt mechanism, so the trimmer experience isn't amazing, it's fine for small face trims, but not for the body.

Impressive
Not sure why the rate not high, the shaver is great, powerful and fast. Did a great job in a 4 days growth and very gentle on the skin. The head swivel is day and night compared to fixed head shavers. Bad reviews almost got me not to buy it but I am glad I did. This is way better than the top of the line prestige ultra Philips shaver that I had to return.

Fantastic
It has been decades since I purchased/used an electric shaver, it is fantastic BRAUN. You have done a wonderful job on this product. Braun always was the number one producer. I am eighty years old and I plan to use BRAUN for the next twenty years, God willing.
