Premium Sugaring Taps
I’ve been doing maple sugaring every year for many years. It is not yet time to collect sap in my area so I can’t tell how these will perform, but I am impressed with the quality. They are a good stainless steel and the tube metal is much thicker than what I’ve used in the past. They are also longer than most stiles that I’ve used in the past. The head is 1-7/8” and the back is 1-1/4”. They are very smooth with no seam lines. The stiles come with hooks in case you want to collect with buckets. The hooks are well made and good grade. The pack comes with a brush for clean out, too. These are premium taps that I expect will last many years. The price point is higher than other taps I’ve owned, but the quality is definitely better than other stiles I’ve owned. Five stars.

Great set and all you need to tap trees, except the drill of course
This is a great kit for first-timers or experienced syrup makers. It comes with everything you need to tap the trees, except the drill, and buckets. And, it's super cheap. Three very well made spyles, three hooks, and a cleaning brush. All for under 20 bucks. The spyles themselves are very well made, out of very thick stainless steel, they should be around for life. The hooks are also made out of very thick stainless steel. You could definitely hang even a 5 gallon bucket from it if you want it to. It would hold the weight without bending the hook I'm sure. You may rip the spile clean out of the tree though. Everything was made using food grade stainless steel, so it is super easy to clean up after use. When tapping a tree, you are not extracting syrup, but rather water that has to be concentrated. The cleaning brush isn't even needed for cleaning, unless you get some sawdust in your spyle. Overall, the whole kit works exactly as expected, very easy to use, and clean, very well made and should last forever. Great price. Highly recommended.

So so taps
These are probably fine for someone who just wants to play at making syrup. They lack a loop to connect a lid to so make sure your buckets have other lid connections. Most taps have a reinforced area to strike with the hammer wine driving them in but these don’t, basically just a cylinder with a washer welded to it to keep the bucket hook in place. Simple design but certainly not like the classic taps I’m used to.

Very well machined for the price!
The fit, finish, and quality of stainless steel taps will be long lasting. It’s going to be several months before I can actually use these when the sap begins to rise.

Good price for a quality starter set of taps.
I wanted to try tapping the maple trees on our property last year but never got around to getting the supplies. One step closer this year... These look like they'll work great, and should be easy to clean.

sleek sap spiling
The media could not be loaded. I like how these have beveled ends and a depth gauge to ensure you don’t drive it too deeply. The hardest part to remember is also the most important that you mush hook it before you start hammering. So long as you get that the rest of the process is going to be easier. If you forget it however you can also mount your bucket directly on the pipe. See my photos for a closeup. The bottomline is that this is what most people will want for their backyard sap collection.
