Best smart plug I've used, Matter support and energy monitoring are brilliant
I've been gradually adding smart plugs around the house and this Meross one with Matter support is probably the best I've used so far. The energy monitoring is what sold me on it because I wanted to see how much our tumble dryer and a few other appliances were actually costing us. Setup was easy through the Meross app and because it supports Matter it works natively with Apple Home which is what we mainly use. The plug itself is compact enough that it doesn't block the second socket on a double gang, which is a problem I've had with other smart plugs. Response time is instant whether I'm using the app, Siri or a HomeKit automation. The energy data is detailed too, you can see real time wattage and track daily and monthly usage. We've now got one on the tumble dryer, one on the washing machine and one on the home office setup. Really useful for keeping an eye on electricity costs and automating things like turning off standby power at night.

Meross Homekit Plug Review
- Overview - I have been using Meross now for just over a year and I have to say I am mightily impressed with them. A wifi smart plug is much better than one that relies on a hub. I have 11 plugs and 5 cables dotted around my house and it is great to be able to turn them off within their app wherever I am. Meross' move to using Homekit is a gamechanger in my eyes. It makes this plug a standout product for people with a Homekit ecosystem. The extension cable isn't available with Homekit (yet?) but the plug sockets now are! Here is my review of the plug. - Purchase & Delivery - Rest assured that even though this product is from a third-party seller, it is fulfilled by Amazon and swiftly arrives. The price of the Homekit plug is great, especially with the offers and coupons that are often available. - Appearance - I think the Meross plug is quite nice looking compare to other which seem to hang off a plug. It is small enough to easily allow two to be in a double socket and any appliance plug can fit with ease. The finish has changed over the last year from a shiny plastic look to a much better matte finish. - Setup - Setting up was always easy with the Meross app but now you can avoid that altogether if you'd like and just use the Homekit app itself. You can always add it to the Meross app later (which I would recommend for firmware updates). Meross do warn you that if you have any issues connecting, to switch your home wifi to 2.4GHz while you install. - Use - I have used Meross plugs over the last year and can say I have had zero issues with the product. Switching things off while your at work if you forgot is so helpful. I never worry about leaving the iron on anymore! With this Homekit device I can say that I still have had zero issues. It is so much easier having everything under one roof and response times are fantastic. I haven't even started to talk about its safety features, which you can read up in the product listing. - Conclusion - Making my house as smart as possible, I have to say that I have not found a better product. Meross seem to have spotted a hole in the market and jumped in. I have now ordered 10 more Homekit plugs to replace my old ones and I hope Meross brings more Homekit compatibility to its products. (If you are reading this Meross - please can we have a smart 2 gang light switch released (Homekit compatible of course ;-) )

Works with HomeKit
I've just purchased another of these smart plugs and felt compelled to leave a review to help others considering buying one. The plug is nicely packaged and well made. It feels solid though quite large but not enough to obscure other sockets. Although I've not shown a photo they are quite deep measuring 4cm when plugged in. The packaging is good and the instructions supplied are in good English and easy to understand. I already have another two of these and so far they have been very reliable in use although the set up was a bit troublesome. On this occasion the Installation was made using an iPhone 6s with IOS 14.5.1. The first issue was that the plug wouldn't pair so I turned off the router firewall to see if that would help but it made no difference. Because I already had the two plugs showing on the Home app I decided to remove them and start from fresh. I re-read the instructions and it does say if you have pairing problems you should 'restart your IOS device due to a system cache issue'. I think it would be helpful if they suggested that in the first instance to alleviate any problems. I did as suggested and managed to pair all 3 plugs without any problem, with and without the router firewall on. Once paired by scanning the QR code on the side of the plug it was easy from thereon. The Home app just took you through the process of naming the plug and giving its location...job done! All in all these are worth considering and a lot cheaper than some of the competitors too. I think they could make the pairing process a bit more reliable but other than that a good product.

Lights on...lights off, so easy!!
I decided to join my living room lamp to the ever growing list of controllable devices by the sound of my voice. There were many brands available but I opted for the Meross smart Wi-Fi plug model MSS210. I wasn't disappointed! I received the plug reasonably well packed in an Amazon box, and then in its own branded box. This included some very basic instructions but quickly it became apparent that the best way to activate my plug was to download the Meross app on my phone. Using play store I downloaded the Meross smart plug app which is a light blue m symbol on a black background, and then opened the app and followed instructions for pairing the plug and then using it with Alexa. I found these steps quite easy; yes you need to link with your wifi signal and some of the loading tasks take a few minutes to finish. On completion of this I was ready to plug in my lamp, and you can either turn it on by using Alexa and saying "turn on light" or by using the app and switching the device on via the screen prompt. The later will allow me to turn on the lamp when I am not there and therefore offer a degree of safety protection to my property. On the whole I am happy with this purchase, it was reasonably priced and will be used regularly especially on darker nights. I have not yet tried to link with other items so cannot review them but for the purpose of turning on/off my living room lamp it works really well and hence I will score it highly.

Small, convenient smart-plug - excellent for use with Apple's HomeKit
I had a wall light that came with no mechanical on/off switch. Worse, the trailing socket that was fixed in place that it connected to, didn't either. So to operate the light, I had to physically disconnect and reconnect the mains plug itself - which was far from ideal. I purchased this meross device on the combination of it being relatively inexpensive and that it supported Apple's HomeKit. Once it arrived - I tried to do the usual wi-fi connection-to-device routine of using the router's WPS function. That didn't appear to work. I then read in the manual that this device specifically operates on the 2.4Ghz frequency and not 5Ghz. So, I temporarily disabled the 5Ghz channel and tried again - still no luck. The above was attempted using the 'Add device' option with in the Home app on the iPhone itself. Each attempt, saw it time-out with no success by scanning the QR code on the side of the smart plug. Ensuring that Bluetooth was switch on my iPhone - I did the following in order to get it to work... Opened up the Home app. Clicked on the small '+' in the top right corner. Clicked on the first option - Add Accessory Ignored the 'Scan a Setup Code' and 'Hold iPhone Near Accessory' options and instead, clicked on the orange option that says 'More options...' Stood near the smart plug with Bluetooth enabled on the phone, the meross device appeared there. You then have the option to type in the device number - printed on the side of the smart plug itself above the QR code. It should be an 8-digit number. It then goes through the syncing process and asks you to give the smart plug a name to recognise it in the Home app. The above worked fine for me - which personally I found to be a LOT more secure than using meross's own app that requires a login to be created, access to your Bluetooth on your phone and network discovery of devices in your home. Thanks, but no thanks! A good device that I'd have no issue in buying additional units of - should the need arise. UPDATE - bought two more of these a few days ago and then spent over two hours trying to connect them. What was most frustrating was that using either the Home App on my iPhone or the slightly unsavoury Meross app - with each attempt, the plugs were half-installed. I could identify them on the network, but couldn't actually control them. I was on the router - disabled the 5Ghz band to enforce 2.4Ghz compatibility as required. Reset both plugs several times and tried manually adding them via the numeric code on the side and scanning the QR code also. Nothing worked. I was on the verge of returning them to Amazon when as a last ditch 'on/off' attempt - I decided to restart the router. Once done, I managed to reset both plugs once more and then this time, they connected fine within the Home App by scanning the QR codes. Note to anyone having connection issues with these - try bouncing your router before you start!

M issues
Meross MSS310. I’ve had two of the slightly older versions of this “smart plug”/energy monitor which worked fine. My experience with this one was not great. I was unable to set up the smart plug as it appeared that there was a problem with its blutooth transmitting. Regardless, if you don’t already have a Google home/alexa/smart-things network hub it would leave you with just their Meross app. This app has far less functionality, won’t allow use on multiple devices (so family members cannot view what they use) and it didn’t work anyway. Waste of 2 hours.

works well with home assistant too!
works with home assistant! Fairly easy to setup on its own app - then pass a code to home assistant and use that instead of another hub. Its app updated its firmware OK. Nice it has power monitoring too.
