Football Stadiums: A Guide to Professional and Top College Stadiums

A useful reference, though a bit imperfect
This is a nice reference to pro and college football stadiums in America. The NFL stadiums (along with Toronto's Rogers Centre, where the Buffalo Bills have played in the past) make up about half the book, and they are arranged by division. They are listed by team name, not stadium name, a good idea since pro stadium names change so often! The book is updated to the end of the 2012 season, so it does not include the newest stadiums like the new one in San Francisco. Each stadium gets four pages of coverage, including a description, photos and a data table that gives the significant parameters, along with a selection of noteworthy games. Colleges that play in these stadiums, though, get little or no mention.College stadiums make up most of the rest of the book, and the coverage is similar, except restricted to two pages each. The selection includes most of the major colleges, though the omissions of Georgia, Missouri (as mentioned by a previous reviewer) and Syracuse are particularly unfortunate. A few stadiums that do not currently host college teams but do host bowl games are also included. The stadiums are listed by stadium name, so if you don't know the actual name of a particular school's stadium, you will need to refer to the index. (A listing of college team nicknames is included in the index, but the name "Bulldogs" is missing, so those teams are incorrectly listed under the preceding name "Buffaloes".)There is also a shorter section showing stadiums that no longer exist or are no longer used; these are shown two to a page, with a small photo and data table. This includes all of the now-demolished multi-purpose "doughnut" stadiums that were so in vogue back in the 1960s.I wish that more aerial photos, or at least photos taken from the highest point in the stadiums, had been included, as it is difficult in some cases to see what the stadiums really look like, and the surrounding terrain, if distinctive, is also not always adequately shown (example: Sun Devil Stadium). Still, even with the imperfections, this is a useful reference and a good gift book.

Great!
Full of information about NFL and College stadiums. If there's anything negative, it's almost too much information.

Great Quality book
I am so impressed by this book! I ordered it as a gift and was unsure of what to expect as there are no photos of the book itself (Just content/cover). Quality is great. Makes a really good gift!

I'd have liked some pictures of the stadium interiors/concourses etc
Top quality book with superb photographs of all current and past NFL stadiums and all major College stadiums. I'd have liked some pictures of the stadium interiors/concourses etc, however guess they'd need an even bigger book for that! Interesting facts/brief history on each stadium which was highly informative. Overall an excellent book for hardcore American Football supporters.

Don't judge by the cover!
Good quality, thick book with plenty of colour photographs throughout. Ideal gift for NFL/football enthusiast. The description was poor but I took the gamble and really pleased with item received.
