I have a flat spot that sits lower than my main dashboard. This holder sits there perfectly. It blocks a screen in my 2015 CR-V...but that info isn't really important, so I don't mind.Pros: This unit holds my phone securely...and it doesn't slide off. Even though this part of my dash tilts back a bit, I can still easily see my phone...the angle is good.Cons: The small amount of "stick" they provide will never be enough to make this thing stay in place while you open it with two hands to insert your phone. You will need to add other adhesive options if that is your goal. Additionally, the thin rubber-like mat is only attached to the phone holder in the middle...so ever if you stick it down well, the tension on the spring that creates the "clamp" on your phone is high enough, that I doubt that would work unless you also stick/glue the rubber mat to the bottom of the plastic part completely. I may try that last part.I don't mind that I have to take a few seconds to insert the phone with both hands...and if I add more adhesive as noted above, I might not have to. Frankly, I don't mind that it's not permanently attached...because then it remains portable and it won't damage my dash. It's a minor annoyance given that it holds my phone so securely, and the rubber seems to be enough "grip" to keep it from sliding around. I think they can do better, but I'm happy with it, especially for the price.PS. I have a Galaxy Note 9...size is no issue.

I really like this phone holder. It really is just a phone holder, and not a convenient charging station. But that is all I wanted. I have great stereo and navigation systems in two of my vehicles, which I frequently use. But there was no place to put the phone when messages, or other info popped up for a quick glance (I do not use phone to text while driving ... and only use hands free voice). What I love about these, is that they are flat an inconspicuous. They will fit on any flat surface area (about 4" by 3" area needed to be flat). Plus you can easily remove and reinstall this device if you want. IT has a silicon base that you can remove and reinstall frequently. It does not leave any residue on my leather dashboards. When not in use, it's not obnoxious like a lot of suction cup mounts on your window or dashboard. When not in use, it lays flat and discretely and your passengers wouldn't even know what it was. This mount will hold your phone nicely and I don't think it will fall off and your phone won't fall out. You can plug your phone in and place it in this mount. It will definitely work for that also. I really like by vehicles and appreciate their appearance, so this was a great find for me.

Wasn't sure if this would work on my '14 crv as the dash has a texture to it. Pleasantly surprised that it stayed put for a long road trip. Had a 'beanbag' holder for my garmin that sat in front of the dash screen that had a tendency to move about and cover the small screen. I put this holder up on the dash on the drivers side....It stayed put the entire trip and was at a perfect spot since I did not have to divert eyes off road to see it. I wiped the dash down with alcohol and pressed the base down a few seconds. It held perfectly. The dash is slightly convex but it held tight even though the gps itself did do some wiggling on rougher roads. My phone and other devices can also use this holder. Would definitely purchase again.

When I picked up my new (to me) F150, I had no idea how hard it would be to find a mount for my phone. The air vents are different so air vent mounts don't work; the CD slot is too deep for a CD slot mount; the dashboard is too textured for a suction cup mount. And since I live in Texas, window suction cups melt in the summer heat (yeah, this really happened).But I have a large tray in the center of the dashboard and the clamshell mount works perfectly just sitting there. It holds the phone nice and snug, is easy to get the phone into, and has never slipped despite my ... driving style.One caveat - I'm still dealing with Texas heat, If I leave the clamshell and phone on the dash for more than 15-20 minutes in the middle of the day, the phone will overheat and shut down. Not the fault of the clamshell; just simple physics.

I've only given it limited use, but so far it is working very well. It holds my GPS unit very securely, and I can't imagine the GPS unit slipping out. In fact, to open the "clam shell" requires considerable upward force, and my only concern right now is that eventually the repetitive upward force needed to open it will cause the base of the holder to come loose from my dash. That has not happened yet, so the adhesion has been very effective so far. If the adhesion continues to hold despite opening the clam shell a great many times, it will deserve 5 stars.

The only reason that I'm giving this a 4 is because your phone gets too hot during the day when using this dock. I realize that it's anchored on the dash but, I was thinking that maybe it would have had some type of a heat protection on the product. I use my vent clips when my phone gets hot so it's an easy fix. lol I LOVE that the phone is at eye level, especially when using GPS. I also wish it would be able to be inserted standing up instead of HAVING to be sideways. I would definitely buy again.

I honestly believe this is one of the safest options of phone holders on the market. It securely holds the phone on both sides and in a good line of view especially for GPS.The phone has never fallen out (months of frequent use) or felt loose and the holder itself is secured even after being parked in the sun. I'm glad I don't have to worry about my phone getting caught up in my pedals. I've also used it for handsfree calling and it's a good setup where the other person can hear me clearly.I can easily charge the phone as the port is not blocked.I will say though that it wasn't easy to find when browsing holder options on Amazon. Took me a few different searches to find this style.

The holder is good. The gps doesn't slide or move much. Had it on my dash for 2 weeks and is still stuck there. Don't buy this if your GPS has a dashcam. You can't use the dashcam cause of the backing of the holder.
