The World Atlas of Street Food

Gift for my son. He has used it and enjoys just looking at it.

I saw this book at Barnes & Noble and read through a good deal of it before finding it cheaper on Amazon and ordered it online.The pictures are lovely, colorful and mouthwatering and showcase a diverse set of food around the world. I'm Filipino and the small section in Manila was pretty accurate when strolling the capital as well. I like street food because of it's cheap and simple to make, while being filling (nutrition is secondary). There are recipes every few pages for something featured in every city and they don't look too hard to make, particularly the American recipes and are a nice inspiration for chefs who want to try out new foods and not spend a fortune on ingredients.Overall I would recommend this book for those who love travel and food because seeing just how varied and delicious the "common people's food" brings even more appreciation to the joy of seeing the world.

I bought this for a secret Santa gift for the chef at a restaurant I work at part time. He's a well traveled man and he loved this gift. Everyone said I scored on this pick! Whew...I checked it out before wrapping and must say it's a lovely trip around the world.

This book is very impressive! A collection of recipes and the best places to go in major cities of the world! Beautiful photos as well!

If you buy this for a sibling expecting a phone call saying thank you, you will be disappointed. Would have been 5 stars if it would have triggered the phone call.

See below for email.in this email you can see that we were offered nominal pay and credit for our contributions.We contributed text, recipe and photos for 3 locations, 2 of which were published.Mercado de San Juan de Belem and Grand Market Budapst.Once we fully supplied content, publishable photos, workable recipes and a bio - we were never responded to by the authors again.In the end, we found the book on a bookstore shelf and found out we were published that way!For our time and effort we received a 32 word bio with no mention of or blog or which inclusions were ours.In the microfilm that is the credits -for recipes - no one is credited with any information that may help people know who they are(URL)- we are NOT Credited for the recipe on page 84- we are credited for page 207 - but without mention of our blog as promisedfor photosfor pages 80-84, we are credited for our 4 of 6 photos and the recipe here?por pages 204-207 - we are not credited AT ALLNot one author is credited for their text.------In short - this book is presented as if Carol Wilson and Sue Quinn are authors, travelers and creatives.Carol Wilson and Sue Quinn DID NOT WRITE THIS BOOK.Independent Bloggers did.People ripe for exploitation.They curated blogs and edited them into a book without the respect or compensation offered.We even had to purchase the book - as our request for at least a complimentary copy was also ignored.We are happy to provide the full correspondence and original submissions should anyone not believe this.When I read the reviews here praising the photography or recipes, I feel bad as I know the hard work and love that many individuals put into this; only to receive the least allowable (and in our case below the least) in return.We were really looking forward to being credited in another publication and even nominal payment is appreciated when others are profiting from your work.We received:- NO pay- PARTIAL credit- NO details of our Website Blog.This experience has been completely different from when we have worked with other editors who treat their sources with respect and stick to the "deal”.------On Jul 6, 2016, at 12:42 PM, Sue Quinn REDACTED wrote:Hello,Please allow me to introduce myself as editor of a new book, the World Atlas of Street Food, created by UK publisher Quintessence, part of The Quarto group. This is exactly what I was looking for: a worldwide tour of street foods with large vibrantly coloured photos and a commentary both historical and descriptive! There are some recipes, but I'm not interested in preparing the street foods. I just want a reference for future travels and an entertaining coffee table style book.

I bought this as a gift for my nephew, who likes food and travel. He loved it. It’s a really interesting book to either read or just dip into, lovely pics and some recipes too. Ideal gift for the foodie-travellers in your life!
