An understanding of psychology-specifically the psychology behind how users behave and interact with digital interfaces-is perhaps the single most valuable nondesign skill a designer can have. The most elegant design can fail if it forces users to conform to the design instead of working within the "blueprint" of how humans perceive and process the world around them. This practical guide explains how you can apply key principles of psychology to build products and experiences that are more human-centered and intuitive. Author Jon Yablonski deconstructs familiar apps and experiences to provide clear examples of how UX designers can build interfaces that adapt to how users perceive and process digital interfaces. You'll learn: How aesthetically pleasing design creates positive responses The principles of psychology most useful for designers How these psychology principles relate to UX heuristics Predictive models including Fitts's law, Jakob's law, and Hick's law Ethical implications of using psychology in design A practical framework for applying principles of psychology in your design process This updated edition includes an even deeper connection to the underlying psychological concepts that govern the principles explored in the book, along with accompanying UX methods and techniques. Examples have been updated to ensure the deconstructed apps and experiences remain familiar and relevant. Review: Psychology & Sense - This is a phenomenal little book that I not only recommend for UX designers, but for all designers. The principles discussed are essential for visual communication and it was delightful to see concepts I practiced explained in an adroit and deft manner that could be used to convey that information to clients. Review: Solid resource-good book to have in your UX library - Great book, first edition was great, this one includes some updates and elaboration on some topics, great as a reference and top-of-mind guides to build better products and experiences.

Great Reference Book!
Within this 2nd edition, Laws of UX is packed with great updated examples + info that reflects the vast technological changes within the industry. The book is well organized, both between + within chapters, which makes it easy to read. Appreciate the upgrades made [ images, detailed info, etc ]. This is an essential book in any serious designer's library! Highly recommend as a go-to reference book.

Amazing Book!
This is a very interesting, well written book for anyone who is interested in UI/UX. Framing the context through the lens of psychology, including colorful and clear visualizations make this book a must to have.

Well written book
Great book Good examples Could have been more practical. Laws were important but also there could be some better guidelines to evaluate designs

Excellent information without reading as an academic book.
The advice in this book is invaluable and actionable and very readable. The book is well structured, pointing out how to avoid design errors that will work against the user. It considers ethics around the UX taking advantage of human psychology. This is very important to me. I'm not interested in hooking users. Rather in helping them achieve their goals (music improvisation).

Good content, bad print
I bought this as I already had the excellent Laws of UX cards (was a freebie from UX Brighton conference a few years ago). The book expands on the cards in as much detail as I was hoping for, but itโs just a shame that an expensive book has the print quality only slightly above that of a newspaper. Why is the print quality so bad?! I have no idea if the first edition is this bad but if it was better Iโd have been tempted to buy that instead.
