A fresh look at questions
As I delved deeper into this book I liked it more and more. The message, while presented differently with each chapter, was consistent. The book is long enough that the repetition of the information applied to different situations that any person may encounter in their lives that it really starts to sink in. By the time I was half way through the book I found myself applying the concept of asking questions in my financial counseling practice.I particularly like the "probing questions", or the "super probes" to close a "sale". Additionally, the concept of letting others talk themselves into the solution was very insightful.Thank you for the excellent examples and real life applications to the concepts.

Life Coaching Aid
this book is all about getting people to "open up" through the use of carefully designed questions. the reader will learn how to influence other people's behavior via questioning - and, importantly, listening. the author does a good job in demonstrating the value of "leading" people, through the deliberative process, to sound judgements and opinions. this book goes well beyond what the title promises. it will teach you how to control the direction of conversations with desired outcomes achieved. being a coach myself, i would have liked a few more actual examples included in the text.

This is one of the best books I have ever read!
This is one of the best books I have ever read! It is a book so worthwhile that after having read it I continued to read a page or two every morning to start the day with. Would love to see a simpler children's version of this for kids - elementary through High School!

Bit wooly for me - more detail and context needed
I very much liked Dorothy Leeds book on making speeches - so I was a bit dissappointed that this didn't really deliver for me. However if you are new to the idea of persuasion by asking and listening it's a good starter. Add this book to Neil Rackham's SPIN Workshop book and you'll start to understand how the best persuaders get their way through asking the right questions and not making the best pitch. The 3rd corner of the triangle would be to really understand how relationships work and how poeple do what they want to do and not what you want them to do. So you'll need to find something about relationships as well before "The 7 Powers of Questions" will work effectively.
