A Good Trade Paperback – February 20, 2009

Great story of three generations of traders on the Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni reservations. Most surprising and interesting for me was the third generation traders who moved beyond trading posts to supplying, over several decades, national parks, hotels, and even Disney with quality American Indian arts and crafts from the Southwest and other parts of the United States.

I love most books about the early traders in the West. This, howver, is rather dry material. It's hard to explain, but the prose is so unemotional. The hard times were narrated so bleakly, but the whole book dragged.
