I found I was getting so used to having an extra monitor at my office that when was on the road, I was literally unable to function with just my laptop screen! A colleague mentioned a portable monitor they had for the road so I looked into it and found something even better! This has been an amazing upgrade to help me function effectively while on the road and not to mention make everyone else jealous when i pull out my portable monitor. Not only does it look cool, the screen quality is great, and it is was easy to plug and play with my laptop. For the price I think this was a great value and the size was just right making it a functional and portable companion for my laptop.

My desktop machine has multiple monitors and I often miss that with the laptop. It just never seemed practical on the go. This screen extender clips on to the sides and top of the laptop screen and can be powered by the laptop. So far I've tried it on a chromebook, windows and mac laptop, and for all three it was plug-and-play with a single cable. It came with three different types of usb-c cables though I have only needed the usb-c to usb-c one. There's also a basic carrying case with a pouch for the cables.The back of the base (the part that clips to the laptop's built in screen) has an adjustable kickstand with six adjustable lengths. You can also nudge it a bit in between these depending on how far you angle it out, though it's probably meant to be fully angled. The stand has a rubber tip which grips the surface and keeps it from slipping.I've tried multiple configurations. The intended standard use seems to be to have it clipped on the laptop screen, secured with the top and side clips, and then the extended monitor is on the right side. The kickstand then rests on the table surface. Without the kickstand it can also work, but it depends how stiff the laptop screen pivoting mechanism is and what angle is needed. Going past 90 degrees gravity starts to take over. It's definitely more stable with the kickstand and probably safer for the laptop.For lap use I've let the kickstand rest on my lapboard that goes underneath the laptop, and also just set up the monitor next to me without being clipped to the computer. For this I find it's most stable when opened the full 180 degrees and then supported by the kickstand. I could see doing this in mirror mode as well in order to share my screen with others sitting across from me at a table if needed. The other configuration which I really like is using the monitor in portrait mode. For that it's freestanding, with the clamshell base fully supporting the monitor, no kickstand needed. This has been really handy for portrait work like photos and shorts, typed documents and page layout. When I switch to other tasks like web browsing or landscape video watching it still works fine in portrait mode, just with a narrower horizontal field to work with than a landscape orientation would have.There are a lot of adjustments available for calibration and a few presets as well. A single button/wheel controls all that. It's quite bright enough for me, unlike some older generation portable screens I've seen in the past. I've been able to get the colors to match fairly close with my built in screen on my main laptop without too much fussing. The wheel also controls the monitor's speaker volume when using it for audio.
