Thanks for asking! Our oil comes from Colombia, where there is no harm to any animal or forest. On the contrary there has been always a sustainable integration with livestock and palms, where this type of palms are. There is an equilibrium with the nature, and the biodiversity is protected

Is this product from a sustainable source?

Per the international organization for sustainable certification of palm oil products, RSPO: these products, the manufacturing company, the seller, are NOT using sustainable sources. There ARE unsustainable sources in Colombia. Anyone can say 'yeah, we're sustainable, yada-yada'; however, this company misrepresents its products. Amazon does not allow these certification organizations make comments here, to help consumers who want to know. WE have to do the legwork and make comments. FYI.

Can you use this to make soap?

Yes! My palm oil and cocoa butter soap came out perfectly.

Should this product be refrigerated?

I don't consume this but do not think it needs refrigeration. I use it to re-condition conga drum heads and it works great for that. I have had a jar for 2 years, never refrigerated it and it appears the same. Absolutely no change or degradation that I can tell.
