Compact size for the specifications, works well in crawl space.
We have a crawl space that measures approximately 40’x60’ in size (about 2400 sq feet). We are located in a flood plain and can get moisture in our crawl space, so we use a dehumidifier down there that runs pretty frequently. We haven’t had it long, but so far this dehumidifier has worked well for us at keeping the humidity at the levels we are looking for. It has reduced the humidity quickly for us, despite the fact that our space is quite a bit larger than the specifications for the unit. The humidifier was delivered quickly (which we needed) and was packaged well. Normally I can expect some carton damage or item damage when I order items of this size, but the packaging on this was great at preventing any shipping damage. The dehumidifier is ready to use right out of the box. The unit included all of the necessary accessories to plug it in and use it immediately, so we didn’t need to make any trips to the hardware store for additional parts and pieces. We are using it with the included drain tube which runs to our sump pump, and we have it sitting right on the concrete floor. The on board push button controls are easy to use and intuitive. We did not purchase any additional remote controls for the unit because we found the on board ones to be sufficient for our needs. One of the major benefits of this dehumidifier is that it is more compact than other dehumidifiers of its specifications. That was an important factor to us, because it is difficult for us to get a dehumidifier down into our crawl space. Our previous dehumidifier of similar specifications was much larger, and required multiple people to lift it while barely squeezing it through our hatch. This one only required one person to lift it down, and it easily fit through the hatch. The unit does run a little bit louder than our previous larger dehumidifier, but we are working it pretty hard since our space is larger than what the unit is specified for. I do not find it overly loud. Some of my older dehumidifiers were much louder than this one, and would rattle. This one is definitely an improvement over those. Overall, we are very happy with our purchase. I am considering also purchasing one of these for my mother’s basement, because the size is great and she would find it easy to use.

Works as intended!
I needed a compact but powerful dehumidifier to fit in our tight crawl space. This is rated for that so I figured I’d give it a shot. After a few weeks of use, I’m happy to report this works great. It moves air very well. No more sweating from the duct work. I probably need to get my house better sealed, but for now, this is working to keep the area dry. I really like the pump. It scares me that it stores so much water and then pumps it out when full, but it’s been working consistently. It fills up with water, then pumps out most of it. Then repeats when full again. I wish I could’ve used a gravity drain, but for my application I needed the pump. We will see how long it lasts. So far I am pleased.

Terrible company
I purchased three AloAir dehumidifiers in mid-to-late 2024 at roughly $500 each. The first unit failed within 8 months. AloAir sent a replacement part, which I installed myself. The unit then ran for another 6 months before failing again. For the past month, I've been trying to obtain a refund through email, but the company has stopped responding. Calling them isn't much help either, as it's nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone. The second unit flooded my attic within the first year of ownership. I returned it for repair, but approximately 9 months later it flooded my attic again, causing damage to my walls. AloAir's response was to offer another replacement unit, as if I would want another dehumidifier from a product line that had already caused property damage twice. I returned the unit last month and have not received any update or communication since. The third unit has worked without issue so far. Based on my experience, two out of three units failed, one caused repeated water damage to my home, customer service has been extremely difficult to reach, and warranty support has been slow and unresponsive. Save yourself the headache and buy from another company.

Immediate decline in crawlspace humidity
I don't like buying things like this. You spend over $1k and your house looks the same. I suppose that's just part of being an adult. My exterminator warned me earlier this year that I need to find a way to reduce my crawl space humidity. The floor insulation in my five year-old house is starting to look like cotton candy and my ductwork is dripping. I live in Eastern North Carolina, so there is really no time of year that is humidity-free. He recommended that I seal my crawl space vents using 1" foam board and Great Stuff expanding foam. After sealing 20 foundation vents, I bought the above dehumidifier unit. I did a fair amount of research but came to the conclusion that many did wherein they didn't want to pay a professional to install this "appliance" in order to have a valid warranty. The installation was very straightforward. As soon as the unit was turned on, it got to work. As you can see from the chart, I installed the unit on August 17th and the relative humidity of the crawlspace air was around 88%. Within two days, the unit reached the set-point of 55%. I have since lowered the set-point to 50% RH and it maintains this with ease. I have not once heard the unit from inside the house, which is a huge plus. Time will tell how the unit holds up but it seems to be built like a beast. Even though I'd rather have spent the money on a something sexier like a new TV, I am very pleased!

Alorair review, works well, still happy with it
I had this machine for 1-1/2 years, have been very happy with it. Nice design, seems well built, easy to setup and maintain, is fairly quiet, and does a good job keeping the basement at a manageable humidity level. I did have a warranty issue after the 1 year mark. I was pleased with the level of support from customer service, calling their support number. The warranty process was a bit lengthy, and there can be costs for shipping, review their warranty terms. Overall, still very happy with the unit and support received. Giving it 4 stars, I like the unit, but I think service/warranty process could be improved.

Excellent dehumidifier for heavy duty performance
Installed this on my 41 foot yacht to help with condensation and humidity. It has made a huge difference in managing the humidity on board, and we would highly recommend this quiet running unit. We have it running with the remote control unit mounted away from the equipment.

Condensate Pump MIA
I have a similar 70 pint per day unit from this same company that has been working flawlessly for a year. I bought this slightly larger unit (120 PPD) in early July of 2026. It worked fine for a few days, then the condensate pump failed. I fooled around with extra leveling of the unit and with opening up the pump tray assembly. I could not get it to work. The worst part is that the pump fails AND the safety shut-off failed as well. So the pints per day ended up all over my set-up table and floor. I installed a small rubber catchment tray and water alarms so that I could get on top of it when it failed. Did I call the company? No. I am not a fan of long phone calls or text exchanges that require me to exchange warranty parts or entire units. For me, my time is more valuable. I also would never trust the unit again. So, I switched the unit to gravity feed and bought a Little Giant VCMA-15 condensate pump for about $60. I fed the gravity feed via the tubing and a 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe into the Little Giant pump, re-drilled the basement drain hole to the slightly larger diameter and let the Aloair operate as a dehumidifier. Kind of a pain in the neck, but the Little Giant pump is used in the millions for central air condensate handling across the continent, so it is generally reliable. A note on engineering: the space to free up the little donut ring float is minimal in the Aloair unit. Good luck trying to get a sight line on it. I suspect they use the same pump in every size unit and just shoehorn it in. Saves costs. However, they had the room to design this with easier access…an opportunity avoided! In any case, sure, buy it if you have gravity feed in mind. If you have the pump function in mind, I would be cautious. I am going to re-design my original pump set-up, as I do not trust the pump now.

Dehumidifier works great
I purchased the Alorair Sentinel HD55p dehumidifier to replace a unit from another brand that we had had in our basement floor for about five years. The other unit was noisy and I had it on a schedule that would shut it off during sleeping hours. This unit is much quieter and the best part is that it doesn’t have a loud start/stop noise; it’s more of a monotonous drone-like sound. I have noticed that the humidity indicator percentage number on the unit is higher than the reading on a separate measurement device I have for indoor temperature/humidity. The other sensor registers about 7 to 8 percentage points lower usually. This is ok since I had that same reader with my old dehumidifier and the percentage was always higher. At least I know this Alorair unit works better, I just wonder why the readings aren’t closer though. Lastly, I use the gravity pump, which lets water outside our home. I also like that it’s Energy Star rated for energy efficiency, I’m writing this review after setting up the unit only two months ago so we’ll see how well it does in the long run. At this time, I am pleased with the value this product brings to combat indoor humidity and mold that we can experience while living on the East Coast.
