Is 19 dollars for a pound of dried cherries fair price?

Seems pricey to me as well  But I've shopped all over locally and now on the web to no avail.  Now I've learned about "dried" sour cherries from the Amazon site. I suppose what drives this cherry market is the balance between "supply and demands"  Once a property I purchased came with 4 cherry trees (only one of the 4 was sour cherry). The Sour Cherry tree was notably smaller than the sweet cherry trees and of course the yield was much smaller.  I'm told by farmers that  (for instance)  10 sour cherry trees (even though tree is smaller) requires the same amount of land. Since more consumers want sweet over sour, the farmer designates more land to sweet. 
My reluctance to purchase dried sour cherries for ( 24 oz = $19)  is I've  never cooked with "dried" fruit."  1. Does drying out cherries and then rehydrating alter the taste of the cherries.  2.  24 oz of dried sour cherries equals how many cups of re- hydrated dried sour cherries.
 3. I assume from Kathren's answer that sugar is added during the hydration process which leads me to believe that will be syrup for pies?

Question 2

These are not organic so how much pesticide residue is there, if any?

Our cherries are tested at the processing plant upon arrival, before drying, for any pesticide residue.  We have never tested positive for any pesticide residues on our fruit.

Question 3

The label stated no sugar, but in the ingedient list sugar is listed as second ingredient. Can someone explain this to me?

I just received the 4 lb bag. Tart but good. Only one ingredient: Sunflower Oil, besides the cherries. There is no oily feel from the cherries so must be using very little just to keep the cherries from sticking together. All cherries including tart cherries have a high natural sugar content. Drying the cherries does not increase the amount of sugar per cherry but you get more cherries in a cup so more sugar by volume. But this is all natural within the cherries. No sugar added.

are there any sulfites in the processing?

There were no sulfites in the processing....plain dried cranberries and a lot of them which wouldtaste better cooked in hot cereal or baked cookies....plain they are not tasty......
