Tasteless water, long life, easy install
There is a very noticeable difference in taste/quality between tap and this filter. Very effectively filters chlorine and does have a strong life. I can't comment on how well it removes other impurities without testing - for the money I will order again.

No an equivalent part
This is not an equivalent part to KitchenAid part # EDR5RXD1. Save yourself the hassle and the mess of this leaking. This filter caused water to leak inside and outside the refrigerator as it couldn’t form a tight seal. The leak inside the freezer side caused a short in the circuit board that senses the ice level because of the leaks. It also shorted out the water intake valve at the back of the unit.
