Led Zeppelin - Complete Studio Recordings guitar tab
The advent of the PC revolutionised music transcription because software made it possible to drastically slow down recordings while preserving both the clarity of the sound and the original pitch. Yet there followed a succession of unhappy attempts to interpret Jimmy Page's Led Zeppelin guitar parts: the transcribers misunderstood how Jimmy worked the fretboard, struggled to decipher his alternative tunings and published tablatures that could make little physical sense. Also, those earlier books were marred by inaccurate or missing lyrics - the band scores that accompanied 'Boxed-Set' and 'Boxed-Set 2' were particularly poor, presenting 'The Rain Song' in finger-twister standard tuning and using bad guesswork and even wavy lines in place of singer Robert Plant's less distinct hollerings. Later, however, a host of Led Zeppelin videos emerged that gave clues to Jimmy’s techniques, and fans like Chris Federico researched exhaustively Plant's libidinous poetry. The authors of this Alfred boxed-set have exploited such resources and raked over previous transcribers’ work. The outcome is that - notwithstanding a very small number of typos - these manuals represent definitive guitar tablature and vocal transcriptions of Zeppelin’s studio albums. Alfred have taken the care too to print this superb body-of-work on good quality paper in a clear and attractive presentation. There are comprehensive explanatory notes, and the lyrics are probably as accurate as they will ever be. The impenetrable couplet in the 4th verse of 'Four Sticks' is quoted here as, "Brave iron door(s)/Strong shields of ore." Other sources cite that lyric as, "Brave, I endure/Strong shields of lore [or yore]." The latter is the more poetic, but the vocal is clear in the 1994 Page & Plant ‘Unledded’ mix and it does appear that Alfred's team has it right. Whatever, the authors have at least improved on the submission by those behind the old 'Led Zeppelin Complete' book – they dealt with that elusive 4th verse by leaving it out and hoping no-one would notice. The edition of ‘Coda’ included here is the extended one, so there are tablatures for the boxed-set rarities, ‘White Summer/Black Mountain Side’, ‘Travelling Riverside Blues’, ‘Hey Hey, What Can I Do?’ and ‘Baby, Come On Home’. These books take the technical Led Zeppelin guitar literature up a level and are heartily recommended.

Solo's are a bit iffy
First song I looked at' Over the Hills...' the solo starts 2nd fret low E (F#) to A# (1st fret A string) the book has A# as (6th fret low E) the aurthor must have really big hands for that stretch! Credit where its due, the notes are correct, but it needs a little deciphering.

Damaged
I’m sure it’s a great book, but as it looked like it had been thrown at my house wall when it arrived, it was on its way back to Amazon before I had chance to break the seal!
