Great app and extremely accurate energy monitoring
I rarely write reviews, but this is one product that truly deserves it. The Emporia energy monitor and companion app have been one of the most useful additions to my home. Accuracy (This impressed me the most) Before trusting any energy monitor, I wanted to confirm the readings were accurate. I compared Emporia’s totals directly against my utility meter over multiple days and the results matched almost exactly. That level of accuracy gave me a lot of confidence in the data the system provides. Real Time Visibility The live energy view in the app is fantastic. You can literally watch your power usage change as appliances turn on and off. It quickly teaches you how much electricity different things in your home actually use. For example, I was able to clearly see: • My dryer cycling between high power while heating and very low power between heating cycles • Refrigerator compressor cycles throughout the day • The exact power draw from my electric range and other appliances • My home's baseline energy usage when very little is running This kind of visibility is incredibly helpful for understanding where your electricity bill is really coming from. The App The Emporia app is clean, responsive, and easy to use. It lets you: • Monitor individual circuits • See real time usage • Track daily, weekly, and monthly consumption • Download detailed usage data The ability to export usage data is something I particularly appreciate because it allows deeper analysis if you want to track things more closely. Installation and Setup Setup was easier than expected. Once installed, the system immediately began reporting data in the app. Labeling circuits and adding additional sensors was straightforward and makes the monitoring even more useful. Customer Service Experience I also had a very positive experience with Emporia’s customer service. I contacted them regarding a price difference after purchasing several sensors directly from them and later noticing a bundle deal elsewhere. Their support team responded promptly and handled the situation immediately and professionally. It is always reassuring to see a company stand behind their customers and resolve issues quickly. What I would love to see improved The only improvement I would suggest is expanding notification alerts and downloadable data support for smart plugs the same way it currently works for circuit clamps. That would make an already great system even better. Bottom Line If you want to truly understand your home's electricity usage and have confidence that the numbers are accurate, the Emporia system and app are excellent. It has helped me track appliance usage, estimate my electric bill very accurately, and better understand how my home consumes electricity. Highly recommended.

Great recording and tracking of home electricity usage
The helps me gauge cost and usage of each electrical circuit in my house. Helps me identify power use and waste. Allows me to police my use of appliances more efficiently. Great app which records energy use over time.

Works great, straight forward install - but risk is real.
Worked like a charm. Install was straight forward, connecting via app was smooth, no surprises. Great to see where our electricity is going. There is a real risk of electrocuting yourself during the installation, be very careful or pay someone you don't love to do it.

Easy install and setup
Easy install with clear instructions. Able to locate several online videos for setting up. Love all the features in the app and different ways to look at the data e.g., watts, amps, cost, etc for each circuit. The app located my utility company and rate to give me the exact cost per kilowatt/hr.

I'm a returning customer of the Emporia Vue and really like them
This is my 4th Vue 3 unit and I really like these. I have two at my house (because I have two service panels rather than one huge one) and just installed this most recent one for my daughter at her new house. I can say that support, when needed was good for me. My first two were running for months but then I had one outright die and after a little bit of diagnostic effort with them they quickly sent me a replacement unit and they covered shipping. That pair is now running for a few years. This newer version of the Vue is nice to see because it includes one of the features I wrote them to suggest which is that the sensor wires now use small screw terminal blocks rather than the old molded in mini jacks which lets you cut the wires to appropriate lengths. This is HUGE for being able to install this in a panel much more cleanly rather than having to coil up and try to dress cables that are simply too long - especially if you already have a somewhat busy/tight panel in the first place. BTW, as much as I like this product, and I had no trouble installing it safely myself, I will say that DIY install of this is probably not safe for most people to do. If you really understand what's going on in an electrical panel, it's easy enough to do, and the instructions themselves are good, but if you don't then just working inside the panel is dangerous so get a pro help to help and avoid potentially serious injury. The phone app interface is very useable and they've added features to support some interesting situations like sub panels or grouping panels. I use the grouping panels which is a newer feature and it's a little clunky still but their folks seem to be listening to us users an innovating. For many people, once you initially understand what makes up the bulk of your power use you may find small changes that will pay you back the price of this unit quickly since it may help you take action to change a behavior that you didn't realize was costing you as much as it was. For example, you may study your HVAC consumption to cool your house and then try an experiment to cool it by a couple degrees less but then turn on a room fan to move some air and you just might discover that it's cheaper but just as comfortable to let a ceiling fan run in a house you cool to 78F rather than trying to push it all the way down to 74F on hot days. Getting baselines for things is useful too (ie if your fridge is running more and using more energy, maybe it's because it's time pull it out and clean all the lint/dust bunnies off the condenser cool (that most of us never look at so it gets really dirty after a while).

Functional hardware but clunky software
I got this to put on the subpanel in my garage, which is on its own disconnect separate from the rest of my house. On the whole it is OK and I am not sure if there is a better option but it is far from a 5-star product. First the good: This was relatively easy to install and get connected to wifi, seems to work well (ish, see below), and doesn't (yet!) require you to buy some $#@! subscription to use it. For that I am bumping this from 3 to 4 stars. Gripe 1: You should not need to install the app to get to the installation manual. My electrician fussed with it for 5 minutes before I figured out how to access the PDF and sent it to him. Since many (most?) users will have an electrician do the behind-the-panel work, the PDF should be directly accessible. Gripe 2: My energy balance isn't quite right. I installed this in my garage where the vast majority of the power consumption is from the heat pump, and the app is generally showing the heat pump using 110-120% of the power used by the whole garage. Comparing this to my electrical meter it seems to be matching up within the margin of error, at least. There may be some further adjustment or calibration to get this to work better, but something is clearly off and it's not obvious what. Gripe 3: My biggest complaint though is the app, which has some missing functionality and weird UX behavior. It seems reasonably stable and performant, so it's not awful. But for a device you buy explicitly for monitoring and performance, the reporting functionality is very rudimentary. You can't select a date/time range to view, it only works in vertical orientation, and scrolling through the data is very clunky. This also seems to support a number of "smart home" type features like time-of-use controls, which do not apply to my use case. It does seem like one of the more feature-rich versions of this kind of thing, so that may weigh in its favor if you are looking for that.

Best Energy monitor you can buy, tested
This is not about saving energy, I just like to know where my energy is going and this app and device is top notch. Very nice app with fast data to see what is going on. I installed this myself, turned off the main, opened the panel and tested that there was no energy. After the first 3 installed, the rest came in very fast. Arrow pointing towards the breaker. that is all. I had a spare space and got a breaker to install the electricity part of the device, but you do not need to, you can simple jump them into adjacent breakers. The accuracy is superb, I can match my kWh from the app to my electricity bill and ever compared it to my Aquara switch which counts voltage, wattage to very close values. I installed this using sensors on both the main and subpanel, so to not have to extend the cable much, I had a 6x6x4 box installed between both panels. An additional $40 and $10 for the cable roll.

Great product, app and support!
The Vue 3 is easy to install and it goes quickly. The app and web interface are both simple to use and are full of ways to visualize and analyze the power, energy and cost data. I needed Emporia to create a new utility rate for my local utility. This product has been a joy to use for an energy nerd like me!

Great bit of kit
Easy to install and set up. I can now monitor my parents electricity circuits to see if they are leaving things on. Helped my identify an issue with the boiler timer and allowed me to check their bills against the supplier to reveal discrepancies in the meter! Only improvement would be smaller clamps.
