Product Description Animated feature based on the characters of the Pokémon franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri. When a group of scientists seek out the legendary pokémon Mew in an attempt to use its DNA to create the ultimate pokémon, the result of their experimentation is beyond their control. The newly born Mewtwo (voice of Jay Goede), an immensely powerful clone of Mew, is taken in by sinister crime boss Giovanni (Ted Lewis) and moulded into a destructive weapon before Giovanni also loses control and Mewtwo escapes into the wider world. Ash Ketchum (Veronica Taylor) and his friends are invited to a grand pokémon tournament to compete with the best trainers in the region, but the safety of both people and pokémon is endangered when the mastermind behind the tournament reveals its sinister purpose. .co.uk Review The world domination of Pokémon begets their first theatrical movie. This adventure is a little more complex and dark than the popular TV series, but kids who live for the show will gobble up this film and ask for seconds. Those baffled by the show's popularity, however, will see nothing better here. Mewtwo, a new type of Pokémon designed by scientists to be the ultimate fighter, decides he wants to rule the world and challenges all the great Pokémasters to battle. Of course, our intrepid heroes Ash, Misty and Brock are there to tangle with Mewtwo and spoil his devilish schemes. The film is a tad more emotional than the show (that is, there is some emotion), with Ash sacrificing himself to defend his beloved Pikachu (but don't you worry, Ash will be just fine). Would you really expect the makers of this worldwide phenomenon to radically change its winning formula? The feature is only 55 minutes long, but there's also a 20-minute short, "Pikachu's Vacation". For the Pokémon novice, this escapade will truly baffle: the narrated tale has virtually no dialogue except Pokémon speaking their names (Bulbasaur, for instance, will only express emotion by using variations of his name: "Bulba, Bulba-SAUR!"). It's a real curio. --Doug Thomas

Such a great movie
To be honest, I am re-watching everything Pokémon with my 3-year-old daughter. and couldn't find this movie cheaper anywhere else. so decided for the cost it was currently at, it'd be foolish to even bother anywhere else.Still, this such a great movie that really doesn't matter where or when you watch (In chronological order after Season 1 episode 69 and before 70 but you would not really notice if watched as a standalone movie.A great story-line, and obviously some pretty awesome characters. with the back story of how Mewtwo came about.my daughter loved it and enjoyed it, which is a bonus.

Classic!
After my 2 eldest boys wanted to watch this on Netflix and they reanimated it to a computer animation. I had to put my foot down and say if we are watching this the. We are watching the original! Needless to say we all loved it. Since this came out when I was a kid and I’m a huge anime nerd it’s always going to be a classic to me

Movie is what it is. My son is to much into his pokemon go to appreciate the originals. They could have tried to digitalise the sound
