Great hiking shoes
I am a big fan of Scarpa shoes and boots. These were very comfortable out of the box and I use them for long road walks as well as groomed trails. During a trip to the High Peaks Adirondacks, I was wearing these shoes when I discovered that I had forgotten my boots facing a big day. No problem. I hiked over 10 miles with total altitude gain over 5,000 feet with some scrambles and wicked descents but the shoes served me well. Very happy with these.

Love it!
I’m very pleased with my new Scarpas. They do have a rigid sole which I LOVE on the rugged trails I hike and the grip is excellent. The feel is total quality. I hope they will last a long, long time.I went with the 39.5 for my women’s 8.5 US foot. The fit is nice and snug the way I like it. I use an average hiking sock but would not be able to comfortably wear an extra heavy sock.I would totally buy this shoe all over again.Update after 9 months of steady use on rough trails. This shoe has held up exceptionally well and still has great grip. It has loosened a touch so I'm glad I had a snug fit.

Great shoes for everything (except dancing)!
Love this shoe designed for hiking but excellent for an all-around shoe for walks or even grocery shopping. The shoe has lot os support and it seems to form to the shape of your foot so it seems like you are wearing slippers instead of hiking boots. The best hiking boots do this and Scarpas are the best in my opinion. I have this pair, a pair of the men's Zen, and three pairs of the Mojito. Love them all!! I always buy them when they are on sale here on Amazon.

Not waterproof? Run a bit narrow.
I ordered a size 8.5 (my usual size) in these Scarpas, the Salomon Ellipse GTX hiking shoes, and the Oboz Sawtooth Low Bdry Hiking Shoes, and have all 3 at home for comparison. The Salomon's are definitely the largest and the Oboz are the smallest. All are US size 8.5 but when I compared the european sizes from the labels on these I see that the Salomon's are EUR 40 2/3; the Scarpa's are EUR 40 and the Oboz are EUR 39.5. I had never paid attention to EUR sizes before, but based on this set of shoes I think I'm a size 40.While the Scarpa's fit my foot the best lengthwise, they were a bit snug at the widest point of my foot. I was wearing my absolute thickest hiking socks, so they'd probably be fine with thinner socks. I wear a normal medium B width, wide shoes are usually too big, but I appreciate the medium B's that have wider toe boxes. The Scarpa's run a bit narrow, however.I liked the salmon accent color, the men's version with the gray/salmon combo looks even nicer, but men's shoes aren't sized small enough to fit me.My main problem, and the prime reason for the return is that I can't figure out whether these shoes are waterproof are not. I don't think so, and the literature that came with the shoes didn't make it any clearer. Thus, I will return them and make sure to get a goretex or other clearly waterproof hiking shoe.
