These are a necessity for owners of 3D printers, and this is the place to buy them.
This product is absolutely ideal for cleaning the precious gears of a 3D printer, but would be valuable to use in cleaning any gears. It works flawlessly to make this difficult task a simple process. This shipper was painfully slow to ship, however their price was worth the wait. I recommend planning ahead, and getting these on the shelf for when you might need them. If you own a 3D printer, you WILL want and need them at cleaning time.

The best way to clean those hard-to-reach spots!
This Gear Floss is a game changer for cleaning cassettes and derailleur pulleys. It gets right into the gaps that brushes just can't reach. The microfiber grabs grease and grit easily, and the fact that it's tear-resistant means I can really get some leverage without it snapping. My drivetrain has never looked cleaner.

Worth the price more than you'd think
Never knew this was a product I'd value as much as I do. I've tried many other ways to clean my 3D printer main screws, but this makes it soooooo easy. The price was a little high for what I considered such a trivial task, but once I used it, I was hooked. Pretty sure you will be too.

effective and numerous
Great for cleaning threaded z-axis rods on my 3D printers. More than a lifetime supply.

Helps make a nasty dirty job dirty job more controlled and easy to deal with!
This floss assists in getting all the used and impurity laced grease from the vertical lead screws on my X1 printers… making a nasty dirty job muck more controlled so the removed grease can be collected into a rag as it’s being removed.

Way better than towels, slight learning curve
TLDR This is a consumable item, like most things we buy for our printers. Buy the 3 pack (it was 16 USD for me at the time) and it should last you a long time, provided you learn how to floss the lead screws properly without shredding the floss and handwashing the floss with Dawn or a mild degreaser. I believe it's reasonably priced for what is essentially fancier shoelaces with looser braiding that actually saves time without shedding too much. I've found the floss to be way less finnicky over thick paper towel and terry/microfiber towels. It's hard to get the towels to properly reach into the grooves of the lead screw. 3D printed cleaing tools don't work because they aren't able to apply enough pressure to get the towels to conform. THICC Terry/microfiber towels I've found to be much more reliable and sometimes faster since I can just wrap more of it around the lead screw. My main problem is needing to run the lead screws which incredibly finnicky and ackward while holding the towel and thumbing my phone or the control screen. The floss isn't foolproof either, but overall I think it's a much more pleasant and faster process once you know what to do. Plus I don't need to worry about wasting perfectly good towels. -Do not toss these into the washer, instead hand wash with Dawn or mild degreaser. You don't even have to scrub too hard, just get the suds going and it soak for a minute. -Learn to wrap the lead screws properly and print out a tool to run the floss for the rear lead screw. Or just grab a stick. Learn how to properly pull the floss so it's not wiping against the threads and instead wiping the actual grooves. Don't pull too hard or it will shred. Accept that the floss isn't perfect anyway and that it will eventually catch something. -YMMV It takes me about 2 floss to clean the 3 lead screws on the bambu before the floss just spreads grease around. -Cover the bed. I've found it's way easier to fumble the floss compared to a microfiber cloth. Maybe it's an experience thing.

Great for getting into tight places and cleaning old grease from lead screws in 3d printer
Great for cleaning lead screws on 3d printers. They can be washed and reused but I plan to dispose of them after a couple of uses instead of getting grease in my laundry.

Anyone wanting to clean their 3D printer's lead screws (the Z axis motion control) ought to try these. Go one and a half times around the lead screw, move the floss up and down a few times, and the screws will be clean and ready for new lube. Way better than cloths, brushes, widgets that you've downloaded and printed to help with the task! Because these are ropes, it's relatively easy to do even hard-to-reach (or semi-enclosed) lead screws.
