Shimano Reel 17 Sedona 2500

i had an old abu garcia spincast combo from walmart and wanted to upgrade my setup, i bought the shimano and its amazing for the price my friends have a pfluger but decided to buy a shimano of their own to add to their setups, great for texas rigs and jigs setups im having a lot of fun fishing with this reel even tho i prefer baitcast.

Really good value. I own several of these and they just keep working. I'm not using them every day, but the drag works well. Very few tangles. Works with braid or mono.

For $70 its a great entry level reel. Works great. Feels robust. Purchased the 2500 series. Spooled with 20lb test braided line. (Overkill, but it's what I had) Do not like the plastic drag knob. Do not like there is not a fwd/Rev lever. In reality, this reel could be the only style you'd need to ever purchase. It's price places it in the utility class. I.e. built to work hence they're not cheap, but will not win a fashion contest either, hence its not expensive. For someone like me, who may fish 30 times a year, this is perfect.

Nephew loves it. Says it’s the best he has ever had. But he is 10 so put that I to perspective.

I would typically purchase lower end reels but after spending a little more on this one the differences in casting and overall build quality and ease of use and maintenance I am sold. Sure there are other options but if you are looking for a mid tier reel with high tier components you can't go wrong with this one.

Best fishing reel I’ve ever owned. Very smooth and reliable.

I purchased this spinning reel based on a recommendation for a "Solid All Around" spinning reel from a YouTube video. Looking on Amazon and seeing it was only $60 I ordered it right away, with the thought that it would be at least a good backup for finesse fishing small lures and jigs if it wasnt worth the cost. This thing really has turned out to be an ABSOLUTE STEAL. Everything about this reel is fantastic! I was using it today and couldn't set it down compared to my Lews Spinning reel worth twice as much. Leaving this review and debating buying a second one for my arsenal tonight!

Be careful, it does not hold a lot of line. I used 40 lb braided line and thought it was similar to my other saltwater reel. It does not hold a lot of line so if using for saltwater be careful. A decent cast with a 1-2 oz weight off a dock and i can see the spool. Would be a great reel for freshwater but a decent saltwater cast is too far for this reel. Overall though it is a great reel. Very lightweight and smooth casting.
