Thanks to ChatGPT for the suggestion to use eco resin plaster to create a solid base in a bowl for an arrangement of long stem artificial flowers (+/-50cm ball arrangement). ChatGPT not so good on how to actually do it. This method works well: Assemble the stems around the end of a length of plastic or metal tube (e.g. broom handle would work too). Wire everything together around the top 3 or 4 inches of tube. To make assembly easier, the tube should a bit longer than necessary so that you can clamp it to something while you work. Once assembled and wired and you are happy with the arrangement, cut off any excess of the stems, together with any excess of the tube, to leave a tight bouquet handle 3 or 4 inches long. Mix the plaster. Insert the bouquet handle into the wet plaster which begins to dry almost immediately. Hey presto. Tips using the plaster: for the floral base you will need all the 1.4 kg in the pot. The pot is big enough for you to mix up the whole lot actually in it. The kit comes with dyes (yey!): red, black, blue, green and yellow. I used the whole tube of green. Just add it in the mixing pot. Turn out the plaster as soon as it is properly mixed (and dye added), since it begins to dry almost immediately. The bouquet was held firm for all practical proposes in 5-10 minutes although the instructions say it takes a few hours to be fully cured.

Excellent results, no air pockets, now comes the fun part. Sealing and painting.

Came out perfect, on my first ever casting project. Dried very quickly. Lovely smooth finish. Be prepared for the cups/paints etc to be coated in plaster. For some reason, they have put the items in with the powder. Had to give them all a wash. before I could begin. But I would buy again.

Nice to work with and not overly messy. It’s also strong as long as you mix correctly. Easy to clean up, no nasty smells and it also colours beautifully. Has a perfect work time, not too fast and not too slow. I only used one of the colours that came with it in extra I had due to having spare mixture left over. So not tried other types of dyes, such as alcohol inks or mica powders with it. It has a chalky consistency and it dries very quickly. I used it for some relief pieces I was putting onto a canvas and acrylic paints go well onto it, had a few duds but that was my fault not the materials. Picked up detail well and you can sand and smooth it. Def going to use again.
