Paper base weight is 40 lb and roll weight is 4.1 lb.

Can this be used as a covering for my carpet to protect it, when furniture are being delivered?

It depends... I would personally say no. Think of this as a rougher gift wrapping paper. In my experience it will tear if weight and friction was put onto it. However, it is durable for gift wrapping. But I wouldn’t trust it for carper protection, especially with the weight of furniture.

Can i use this to package handmade soap?

Yes, I would buy handmade soap wrapped with this paper.

Can you use this for backing a canvas?

I don't know much about backing canvas, but I do know that this is very thin paper. Much thinner than I had hoped when purchasing. I had to wrap gifts twice, bc it was so thin.
