Zebco isnt what it used to be. Junk.these companies are designing their products to break quickly so u will be back quickly for another. My Dad started me off with this reel as a kid, I thought this would be a great reel for my daughter and wife since it worked so well for me as a kid. Unfortunately, this is not the same as the original Zebco, as the quality, is nowhere near the same. I ran 6 lb and 8lb PLINE on both reels. Their was no difference between the two reels, both started well on the first 10 casts, but suddenly started to catch mid cast on both. Does not appear to be a very durable reel but for the cost, is a good starter for the kids. I bought this same reel 15 years ago and used it on both fresh and saltwater, the quality today is nowhere the same.

I bought a new carbon fiber rod and it was so light that I wanted a reel as light as possible and still have some guts. My new rod and reel combo, together, is the lightest I have ever owned. I just came in from fishing, most of the day, with my new setup and I am more than pleased with it. We were fishing for crappie and caught several keepers. The sand bass were biting and we caught several; some pretty good sized. Was the reel perfect? No, but it only cost 16 bucks. Did it work flawlessly? No, but it did work, and it only cost 16 bucks. Bottom line; I'm glad I bought it and would gladly buy it again. The reviews saying "Poor quality" are a joke. What the heck do they expect for 16 bucks? Zebco's always have worked, and they still, work.

I have bunched of reels all the way from Abu Garcia Rocket and Shimano Stradic's and countless other reels but for the price this 33 Micro is the best you can get. I am serious about fishing and this little feel works like it's supposed to. Oh yes I also have 5 of the Zebco Bullets and I had rather use these than them. I've sent all the way up to 15 lb Berkley Big Game mono on it and it still cast like a dream. Tighten the drag all the way down and bring in some big bass. I use them for soft plastic lures mostly and they work great for skipping docks or low tree limbs. You won't be disappointed.

I have several Zebco 33 reels for lake fishing. I bought this one to replace an old Zebco that was literally wore out after decades of use. However, this reel does not have nearly the quality of earlier models. It reels in very rough. It feels like something is rubbing or dragging against the spool. I have dis-assembled the reel, checked for burrs, cleaned it, lubed it, sanded the retrieving surfaces with 1000 grit sandpaper, replaced the line, etc. It is still difficult and uncomfortable to use. It feels like a fish is constantly bumping the lure when retrieving line. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never had a quality issue with a Zebco 33 until I bought this most recent one.

Purchased the reel for use on vacation. Worked good day 1, by the end of day 2 the reel was jamming up, by day 3 it would not cast anymore and the spool become tangled inside of the housing. Could not fix the item. I guess you pay for cheap, you get cheap results.

My kids broke the reel that came with our original ugly stick, so I figured I'd give this a try. Fits right on, but the line that came with it was obviously old because it was all kinky and twisted like girls I dated in college. Replaced the line and it's ready for the kids to drop it to the bottom of the lake anytime now.

I got this reel as an alternative to the plastic "snoopy" rods that are, in my opinion, quite useless. This reel is great, very solidly built. It's tight where it should be as well as smooth where it should be. It comes spooled with seemingly good quality 4lb red mono so you won't have to re spool it out of the box like so many kids setups.I wanted to talk about the bite detection as I could find very little info on this even after lots of searching on the web. Basically it allows you to disengage the drag but be able to detect if a fish is running off with your bait. It has a clicking sound that is distinct from the drag so you can differentiate between the two. When you want to set the hook and engage the drag just grab the reel handle and your good to go. Simple but effective. I like this little reel and fully plan to borrow it from my son frequently.

Loved the compact size. A very well made reel. Got its big brother as well. What got me started on the 33model is when I was in america I used the reel and it was a pleasure to use. I use the reel now for ultra light fishing 🎣 for perch and trout and for lrf with small plastic lures
