A Reliable Waterproofing Solution for Deck Construction
I recently used Dongxw Butyl Joist Tape to protect the joists and beams of my new deck from water damage. I was impressed with the quality of the tape and how easy it was to apply. The tape is made of a thick, durable butyl rubber that is waterproof and resistant to UV rays. It's also self-adhesive, so it was easy to apply to the joists and beams. I simply cut the tape to the desired length and pressed it onto the wood. The tape adhered well and created a tight seal that will prevent water from seeping into the wood and causing rot. I'm confident that the Dongxw Butyl Joist Tape will help extend the life of my deck by protecting the structural members from water damage. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable waterproofing solution for their deck construction project.

quality tape, sticks really well.
seems quality and sticks well. A bit annoying sometimes taking the thin film off as it tends to peel unevenly but the tape is really good.

Nice and sticky.
Does the job it was brought for.

Our Decking project.
Just what we wanted and does the job well. Once stuck down the tape is there and does not come off easlily. Our only criticism is there is only 15 meters on a roll..

Just the job for garden loggia
Just the job for weather-proofing exposed wooden joists. Used on replacement beams for a garden loggia. Originals, although pressure-treated, had rotted after 10years with water pooling on flat top surfaces.

Awful product, don’t buy.
Awful product, the item must have been left in the sun as all the glue as all over the tape and make a complete mess. The roll was also very flexible so it didn’t roll out well. Awful product for the job.

Beware! Only 43mm wide!
The tape itself seems ok however, I should have checked the details more carefully as this tape is narrower than the standard 50mm tapes. This tape is only 43mm wide and is therefore narrower than the joists. Consequently, I've had to double up the tape and hence use twice as much. My fault, by why sell a deck joist tape that doesn't cover a standard deck joist?!

Durable and Waterproof Butyl Joist Tape – Ideal for Deck Protection
I recently used this butyl joist tape for a decking project, and I’m very impressed with the results. The 5cm x 15.2m size is generous, providing ample coverage for sealing and protecting deck joists. The self-adhesive backing is strong and makes installation quick and easy. Once applied, it forms a tight, waterproof seal that helps protect the wood from moisture and rot, extending the life of the deck. The black colour blends well with most deck materials, giving a neat and professional finish. This tape is highly durable, designed to withstand outdoor conditions, and remains securely in place even after exposure to rain and varying temperatures. It also works well for repairing and sealing other wood and metal surfaces, making it versatile for various outdoor projects. Overall, this butyl joist tape is an excellent solution for anyone looking to protect and preserve their decking or other exposed wood surfaces. It’s easy to apply, long-lasting, and offers great protection against moisture. Highly recommended for DIYers and professionals alike!

They worked okay, not the best quality. The backing kept tearing, like it had been pre, cut, but it stuck good.

Adheres great!
I put the tape on a dirty, damp, pressure treated 2x6. I wanted to try it on a dirty piece of wood because I saw a few reviews that stated the tape did not stick well. In my test, the tape worked exactly as the manufacturer stated. I experienced no rolling on any of the edges. I did my test in the sun, so maybe the sun helped… just a thought. I have no problems with this tape. It adheres well, it seals around any nail or screw holes. It will protect the joists for years. I just can’t think of a way it will fail. Pro: Wide enough to cover a 2” wide joist. The adhesive is strong enough to work on dirty, damp, pressure treated wood (my test piece). It self-seals around nails and screws. Con: None My take: I would use this item. Info: As a Vine reviewer, I realize how important my reviews are to consumers. I too rely on reviews in making my purchasing decisions. As such, I want to provide a valuable service to those considering purchasing the products I review. Also, since I must pay taxes on the retail value of the products I receive (in my case, about 40%—broken down as 15.3% in SS/Med taxes, and 25% Fed. Income taxes), I endeavor to provide an honest review of every item I receive. FYI, my stars are valued as follows: 1 Star: Do not buy. This item has serious flaws. 2 Stars: Do not buy. Not as bad as a 1 Star, but it still has major downsides. 3 Stars: Buy if you can’t find an alternative. There are some issues that need worked out. 4 Stars: Recommend purchase. This item met my expectations. 5 Stars: I love this product.

As butyl tapes go, this is on par with the rest
Butyl tape is one of those things that make me wonder why nobody came up with it earlier... The idea is awesome, as butyl tape prevents water from sitting on the horizontal surfaces of your wood decking joists. This is especially helpful when you are replacing deck boards, as now there are holes in the joists from the old deck board fasteners. Butyl tape will prevent water from getting into the old fastener holes, while also keeping your joist surfaces free from moisture. This tape works like the rest. It has a nice, strong adhesion, and wraps nicely around new fasteners that pass through the tape, ensuring for a water-resistant space where the fasteners pass through. My only gripe about this butyl tape is the same as otherr butyl tapes out there - I wish the tape to be a little wider. Even 2-1/4" would be helpful. As this tape is 2", you need to take your time when applying to typical joist boards, so as not to deviate too far to either side, potentially leaving some surface wood exposed. I recognize I may be too picky with this, so I do not deduct and stars, but it still leaves me wanting for just a little bit wider tape. The industry should take note. Thank you for reading my review.

It's Okay Deck Joist tape
I think this a okay general deck joist tape - it does the job! I recently had the chance to compare 4 different lesser known brands of deck joist tape. Each of the products look the same, a smooth pliable black outer layer, with a fairly thick sticky gray adhesive on the inside protected by a peel-away layer that prevents the tape from sticking to itself. I placed strips of each to a piece of PT wood, and left out in the sun and elements for days, and then tested which ones adhered the best. I found that the results were pretty close. They all stuck pretty well, even after just a few days. I found that Dongxw stuck the worst in my line up as it was the least difficult to peel off out of the 4 that I tested, although the rest were all pretty close contenders (with marginal difference in adhesion strength). Although this was the easiest to peel off, it still stuck well in several areas, and, given more time certainly would have adhered even better, and there really isn't much worry about it coming off, as you will be nailing deck boards over this holding it down even more. Despite the results, I would have no trouble trusting this for my next deck job, and it's certainly better than nothing. I think it's a decent general deck joist tape that will ultimately get the job done!
