desertcart.com: Bed-IT Tape, Butyl, for Marine Deck and RV Hardware (50 Foot Roll x 1/2" Wide) : Industrial & Scientific Review: Best Bedding (Butyl) tape I've found for boats! - This tape is the real deal! Developed by Rod Collins of "How to Marine", this is the gold standard for marine use. It really sticks well and stays adhered to Gelcoat and Stainless deck hardware. I used LifeSafe Butyl Caulking Tape the first time on my lifeline stanchions, then had to remove and re-bed them with Bed-IT on my 26' performance racing sailboat. You can get a lot of water on deck sailing over 15 knots! Review: Real bed-it not knock-off - The real stuff, not made in China rip off.

Better than Great Stuff
Just like that stuff from the 80's. Seems to seal seems well. Easy to apply. Cuts best with scissors. No mess like 4200 and 5200 for sealing applications. Too bad you can't get it in black or white...

Excellent product for (above waterline) marine applications.
Actually purchased product years ago from the developer (a very highly qualified marine repair and maintenance technician). Sadly, he suffered a stroke and is no longer able to work. I was very pleased when I received this new order from Amazon and discovered it was the same product I ordered years ago from Rod. I've used it under all of my deck hardware and have never had a leak. Great product.

Re Bedding Deck Hardware
This Butyl Tape is the same tape I have used for years. It the best product to bed boat deck hardware. The photo is a Sailboat Genoa Track re bedded with butyl tape The box list a web site, marinehowto.com ,showing the best way to use the butyl tape. Butyl tape will allow for easy future dis assembly.

Does a great job for marine applications
This is the second roll I’ve purchased - it is great for marine applications. It doesn’t harden over time, and does a great job sealing. Using a bit of mineral spirits makes cleaning it off when you need to service a fitting quite easy.
