Gonzo Mole & Gopher Trap - Pro Guardian, Durable, Manual - 6 x 3 x 3 in - ABS

I've caught hundreds of gophers over the last 20 years of property ownership, and this is the best trap I've found. Other Black Box designs will work fine, but this has several advantages: -it's longer than others, which makes it less likely for dirt to obstruct the mechanism on top. It makes it easier to set and more likely to kill quickly. -it comes with a wire loop to attach to a cinderblock or piece of wood to prevent scavengers from running off with carcass + trap together. -the trigger inside is shaped in a zigzag to prevent the animal from crawling partway through the trigger loop and then getting caught by their hips in the pinch (then they are alive and suffering and you have to finish the job). -a second part extends past the kill pinch part which aligns the carcass so it falls out easier. Overall, excellent functional design. You can tell they put a lot of thought into it.

Good strong trap! I have 2 to replace my Black Boxes that have been discontinued. They are bigger and stronger and can really catch gophers! I always have 6 on hand….

Garbage. I know how to use these traps from many years of experience with the original Victor black box traps. Unlike those, this trap catches nothing. I had the same gopher push dirt into this trap 5 times. The spring mechanism is much weaker than the original Victor trap.

Best gopher trap ever! You can use it over and over. Only down size was the price but I couldn’t find it anywhere else.

For the first time in my life I had to contend with gophers. There seems to be a bumper crop of the little devils in my neighborhood this year. While some people are combating the issue, others just don't care if their yards get torn up. So the varmints breed and spread out to new hunting grounds. And for the first time, they are now targeting my pristine front lawn and flower garden. At first I tried spring traps and then the Gopher Hawk; the Pocket gopher that was tearing up my lawn would just push dirt up against the traps. Experts on You Tube have stated that gophers have a strong sense of smell and if they smell a human scent on anything, they will just avoid it. Gopher gas didn't work either but it showed me how wide spread his network of tunnels are under my yard. I used a variable speed electric leaf blower to slowly circulate the smoke and it started coming up out of the ground all over the lawn. This was no ordinary gopher I was dealing with and I was starting to feel like Carl Spackler in the movie Caddyshack. So as a last resort I purchased the GONZO 5030 Pro Guardian Mole & Gopher Trap and as they say, I should have opened with that. I didn't follow the instructions exactly but dug a larger hole where the feisty pest had opened an air hole in my yard. They don't leave their fresh-air holes open for very long so I immediately dug a larger hole near the opening so it could accommodate the entire trap. I didn't angle the trap as directed but laid it in flat and surrounded it with dirt. The Gonzo 5030 has a small hole in the back to tell Mr. G that there is still fresh air coming in so it gets his attention. At this point the wile rascal would kick dirt up against the trap and seal the tunnel on his side. But this time I left a treat that no gopher can resist. A piece of fresh carrot placed between the trap's air hole and the trap spring was too much for him to resist. It took several days but the Gonzo 5030 finally got him! You can tell if the trap is sprung while it's buried so it just takes patience. I don't like killing God's creatures, but after seeing my beautiful yard destroyed by that little menace I made an exception. I rate gophers right down there with rats, mice, and hornets/wasps for my Do Not Spare list.

Smaller than expected. I don't think a gopher would fit inside for it to work. It will probably work for moles

This trap is a lot like the original Victor black box with one improvement and one thing that could be better. This trap is equal in quality to the original black box and it will kill chipmunks, squirrels, opossums and rabbits. The improvement is a second catch bar to increase the catch rate. On the down side the trip pad is way too far back. I ended up bending it 90 degrees forward and then 90 degrees back down so the trip pad sits about 1 1/2 inch closer to the opening. IT seems to work fine there.

these traps are incredible , we have pocket gophers everywhere and had tried other traps metal ones,sonic vibration, sprayed our yard with caster oil , flooded them, gased them and no luck maybe killed one all season. Withthese traps I caught 6 in the 6 days Ive owned it. I highly recomend these
