It's a whole new world
For the past few years, I've been struggling with my Shark. Even though it was advertised for pets, it constantly clogged and could barely keep up with my one dog. Finally, it broke, and I was relieved because it gave me the excuse to buy this. Oh my... I can't even put into words how much better this Dyson is to my old Shark. Turning it on for the first time, I could just FEEL it's power and I immediately knew I made a good purchase. Pros * Easy to set up and get started * Tons of tools for specific use cases. I've cleaned some areas that haven't been touched in years. * Incredibly powerful suction. This beast will get EVERYTHING up. * Great capacity. The collector holds a lot more than my previous vacuum, so I'm stopping less to empty it. This is great, because it's extra power definitely picks up a lot more hair and dirt, so that extra space is welcome. * Very easy to maneuver. While the ball does make it a bit harder to get deep under couches and stuff, it glides across the floor and turns like a dream. The extra attachments are super easy to swap out, so this is a worthwhile tradeoff. I know these things are expensive. I held off getting one for years because I just didn't see how it would be worth it. But after suffering through a few years with a slightly cheaper but vastly inferior product, I can confidently say this is absolutely worth the money.

Expensive, Exhausting, and Poorly Designed
"The only thing this vacuum picks up is my blood pressure." I bought this vacuum hoping it would live up to its name and price tag. Between a full-time career and raising kids, my schedule is packed; I needed a tool to make life easier. Instead, this has been a source of physical pain and constant frustration. ❌ Ergonomic Nightmare Despite the "Ball" design, this machine is incredibly heavy and cumbersome. I have small hands and wrists, and navigating this vacuum is a workout I didn't ask for. It does not pivot smoothly; it resists every turn. It’s so difficult to maneuver that I can't even ask my kids to help with their rooms—it's simply too much for them to handle. ❌ Zero Suction Control & Poor Height Adjustment We have a mix of hardwood and carpet, and the transition is a disaster: Suction Issues: There is no way to adjust the suction. On carpet, you have to practically "yank" the vacuum across the floor just to move it. Design Flaws: The front of the vacuum sits too high. It won’t fit under kitchen counter along the trim, yet it’s too low to pick up something as small as a pebble. You have to stop, pull out the hose, or awkwardly flatten the handle to the floor just to get basic debris. Button Placement: The power button and the roller brush button are right next to each other. You end up hitting the wrong one constantly. ❌ The "Hose from Hell" The hose design is baffling. There is a blue plastic pipe inside that you have to manually remove every time you want to clean the stairs. If you leave it in, the hose kinks, the suction dies, and the entire vacuum tips over because it’s so top-heavy. ❌ High-Maintenance Features The Cord: While long, it doesn't retract. In a 3,000sq ft house, you’ll spend half your time manually winding a massive cord. Cheap Build: For the price, the plastic feels flimsy and "budget," which is insulting given the cost. The Intake Vent: This is the most bizarre design choice—the vent is right by the handle. If you are wearing a blouse or bracelets, the vacuum tries to eat your clothes and jewelry while you work. Final Verdict If you value your wrists and your sanity, stay away. This is a heavy, poorly balanced, and over-engineered headache. I strongly suggest testing one in person before you commit—don't let the "premium" branding fool you like it did me.

Simply incredible
This vacuum puts my old Kirby to shame, and it doesn't use expensive bags. The only problem I have with it is that it is so strong that it's pulling up the carpet at the seam. IOW's this machine is, again, incredible.

Great vacuum with some minor issues.
It actually should get 4 1/2 stars. It's an excellent vacuum with some minor drawbacks. It is powerful and versatile. It purchased it as I am a parrot owner. Parrots are the messiest of all pets. Between the dust, feathers, thrown seeds, fruits and everything else, a powerful and versatile vacuum is a must and this vacuum "fills the bill." It also works well for hardwood floors, carpet, stairs, furniture and the like. I wish that the extendable attachment hose was longer as it is not very long and it is stiff making it difficult to reach certain places with the attachments. Also, I would prefer that there be an unlatching button to release the handle down rather than a press down on the handle until it clicks because it sometimes unlatches when you don't want it to. Lastly, the dust bin could be larger. Still, as far as vacuums go, its a great vacuum.

Best Suction but Room for Improvement on Many Other Areas
I bought this during Prime Days and wanted to spend some time with it before reviewing it. Here’s my opinion in an easy to read bullet point list: What I LOVE: - Best suction of any vacuum I’ve used. I have multiple cats that shed. I let my robot vacuum do a turn. Then I vacuumed using my upright. Then I used the Dyson and it managed to still pull up a half canister of dirt and hair!! Impressive! - The Cord - kudos for a cord that is long enough to do multiple rooms!!! No need to stop and unplug and plug while vacuuming. - The washable filters - so nice not to have to CONSTANTLY buy new filters. Sure these will need replaced from time to time but you can wash them in the sink by hand for some time before needing to buy new ones! - The fact that there are only 2 filters. I like simplicity. I don’t want to bother with 4 or 5 filters. - Maneuvering this machine - when the rotating brush is on, it practically glides over the carpet. It also has a wide sweeping head which covers a lot of space. Its straight edge design allows you to get close to wall borders and room edges. - Pet hair does not get tangled in the brush and the brush is easy to clean. Also, it’s simple to toggle between having the brush spinning for carpets and having it turned off for hardwood or linoleum. - I like the Dyson warranty and product support. If you have a question about your product, it’s easy to find answers. Also, registering your product for warranty purposes is super easy and takes no time at all. What I LIKE: - There are plenty of tool options. Your Dyson comes with multiple tools that will handle a variety of jobs and a carry bag is included for easy storage. What I DISLIKE: - The upright locking mechanism - you have to put actual effort into getting the vacuum to stay in the locked position. Furthermore, if you are moving it from room to room in the locked position and run over carpet, a floor divider or even a piece of cat food, you can almost guarantee that it is going to unlock and the sweeper head is going to fall to the floor. - The hose and tool design - the hose is stiff and hard to maneuver. I use my hose a lot to sweep trim, cat litter from crevices etc. The hose is so stiff because of the handle that it’s almost unwieldy. Furthermore, unless I’m missing something, there is nowhere on the vacuum to attach a single tool!! It’s a pain to dig tools out constantly. Over time, I’ve become better at pulling the hose out of the handle base for use but it’s taken some time to get used to. - I’m bothered by the lack of quality of some parts. The piece that holds the LONG cord is plastic and I worry it won’t last long. The debris bin also feels cheaply made. It’s yet to be seen if these parts will stand the test of time. - When dumping hair from the collection tube, I frequently have to put my hand up in there to pull the dirt and hair out. It gets trapped around the cylinder tube up top instead of just falling out. Price - I bought my vacuum during Prime days and got a deal on it. I’d have to really consider whether I’d be willing to pay the normal asking price for this vacuum. I love the power and the suction capability but I feel it has several pretty big flaws as well.

This thing really sucks! In the best way!
Yes, you read the headline correctly. But what is a vacuum supposed to do? When this arrived I put it together, and then went to a small hallway in between two bedrooms in my house. It's about 3 feet wide and 9 feet long. I went over it twice with my old purple aquatic branded pet vac... The carpet seemed clean. Then I went over it once with this new Dyson. Holy Moley! The cannister was half full! Cat hair, dirt, dust... I can't believe that there was that much left in the carpet. The Dyson will literally suck the soul out of your carpet and then put it back with new life! I won't ever go back to any other vacuum cleaner. Love my new Dyson.

The most frustrating $700 you will spend
We are now about 15-16 months into owning this vacuum so it’s time for a review. We retired our previous Dyson vacuum after around 15 years of very solid service. So when we decided to do retire it the choice to go with the updated version seemed like a no-brainer. This version is not anywhere near as good as our original especially considering the $700 (!!!) price tag and we will be searching for a better option. The good: the suction is very powerful. It does an amazing job of getting the dog and human hair off of our floors. It’s highly maneuverable as well which is a plus. The process of emptying the canister was definitely much easier than the previous version. The bad: the suction is so powerful that the brush will get jammed on area rugs. You WILL constantly trip over the cord. I don’t recall getting tangled up with the cord nearly as much with previous version. This vacuum LOVES to get things like drape ends and cables sucked into it. This wouldn’t be so frustrating if it weren’t for the fact that this vacuum is absolutely crap at picking up anything bigger than hair on hard surfaces. Traces of dog kibble or other tiny objects just get pushed around or come back out of the brush mechanism when turning. The extension hose is entirely too stiff and or short so you can expect to have to pick up the entire vacuum while using that feature or wrestle with it bumping into you while using the extension hose. Probably the worst and most frustrating thing about this model is the “self-locking” mechanism when storing it. 2/3 times it doesn’t want to lock upright on the first try and the other 1/3 times it will unlock when rolling back to where you store it. I have never hated a vacuum as much as I hate this vacuum. As far as chores go, vacuuming was one that I actually like doing as there’s something satisfying about it. I now loathe to vacuum because I hate this overpriced plastic cadaver with a passion. I would shop around for either a different model Dyson or a different brand entirely.

Garbage!
What a shame to discover the Dyson brand has fallen so low in quality! I own an early version of this vacuum that's more than 15 years old. THAT vacuum is worthy of 5 stars. I bought THIS vacuum while visiting my son and it's utter garbage. Being supposedly hepa filtered and able to trap microns, every tool has a crevice that collects gray fine dust. This same dust builds in the cannister's gasket and blows out between the hose and cannister. Emptying the cannister is DIRTY! There is no end to the dust that can be shaken out of the filter: nothing is trapped. It's necessary to clean the machine with a Swiffer after use, seriously. Some of the tools build static that attracts hair to the outside; it's necessary to unclip and then vacuum the hair off the tools after use. A lot of tools are included but none can be stored onboard: how stupid! All these dusty, dirty, hairy tools in a bag that you must rummage through. Nothing to clean under the bed or under furniture: the required angle necessary to maintain flat operation is only about 8 inches under the bed and 4-5" under furniture. The vacuum requires many tries to catch in upright position. Other reviewers include their frustration using the hose: indeed, it is a tough fight against it suctioning itself short. The wand is difficult to fit back inside the hose. The wand and hose assembly doesn't have a locking stow cradle and it often falls down and out of upright position. The upholstery tool had a strange effect that it wove the hairs and fibers on a cushion into web-like lines; the lines then had to be picked by hand because the tool couldn't suction it. The plastic is very cheap and thin compared to my older model. I wouldn't recommend this vacuum.
