Devastatingly heart wrenching
Going into this book I had my reservations about Nesta’s character. I was very unhappy with a lot of her choices and treatment of other characters in ACOFAS (and even earlier on in ACOTAR & ACOMAF). But I have been pleasantly surprised in the past by Sarah, and knew I should give the book a chance. Especially since this is my favourite series. I was not disappointed. Nesta’s POV was a welcome change and incredibly eye-opening. While it didn’t excuse any of her previous behaviour, it really makes you understand her trauma, and the kind of pain she is in, her fears, etc. The tension between her and Cassian was incredibly pleasing to read. I had some predictions for this book and at least 3 out of 4 were spot on. However, Sarah’s approach was heartfelt, raw and refreshing. There was a one minor smut scene not to my liking, but that’s a personal preference. The plot with the Queens and the like was compelling and well advanced. I did feel it a bit rushed toward the end. But overall pleased with the resolution. I would have liked some more moments with Nesta and the other characters toward the end than I got, and really missed Feyre and Rhys’s POV. A small handful of the plot points were not entirely to my liking but did not outshine Nesta’s journey. Despite all of that, this is now almost tied with ACOMAF for my favourite book of the series. Cannot wait for the next one!!

Nesta Archeron.

Journey of self-discovery, redemption, and empowerment.
Rating: ★★★★★ Sarah J. Maas returns to the captivating world of Prythian with her latest installment, "A Court of Silver Flames." As the fifth book in the "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series, Maas continues to weave a tale of love, sacrifice, and growth, this time focusing on the fiery and complex character, Nesta Archeron. In "A Court of Silver Flames," readers are thrust into the aftermath of the war against the King of Hybern. Nesta, once a fierce but troubled human, is now grappling with the consequences of her actions and the emotional trauma she endured. Haunted by her past, Nesta finds herself on a journey of self-discovery, redemption, and empowerment. Maas skillfully delves into the depths of Nesta's psyche, depicting her struggles with addiction, self-destructive tendencies, and the battle to reclaim her own sense of self-worth. While Nesta's character transformation might not be easily likable or relatable for all readers, it is undeniably raw and realistic. Maas doesn't shy away from exploring the dark and complicated aspects of Nesta's personality, allowing her growth to be a truly cathartic and empowering experience. One of the highlights of "A Court of Silver Flames" is the exploration of female friendships and the bonds of sisterhood. The relationship between Nesta and her sister, Feyre, takes center stage, portraying the complexities, love, and healing that can arise between siblings. The introduction of new characters, including the intriguing and enigmatic Cassian, adds depth to the narrative and offers fresh dynamics to the existing cast. As with Maas's previous works, the romance in the story is passionate and steamy. The tension between Nesta and Cassian is palpable, evolving from a fiery rivalry to a slow-burning connection. Their relationship is laced with equal parts animosity and vulnerability, making it a captivating and addictive aspect of the book. While "A Court of Silver Flames" successfully delves into the emotional and psychological aspects of its characters, some readers may find the pacing slower than anticipated. The focus on character development and internal struggles can sometimes overshadow the external plot, leading to a slower progression of events. However, for fans of Maas's writing style, the rich world-building, intricate relationships, and nuanced character arcs will more than compensate for the pacing. Overall, "A Court of Silver Flames" is a worthy addition to the "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series. Sarah J. Maas continues to impress with her ability to craft complex characters and delve into the depths of their emotional journeys. Nesta's story of redemption and empowerment, combined with the familiar elements that have endeared readers to the series, makes this book a must-read for fans of Maas's captivating fantasy universe.
