JUNIOR LIBRARY GUILD SELECTION โข Celebrate Pride and it's iconic rainbow flag--a symbol of inclusion and acceptance around the world-- with the very first picture book to tell its remarkable and inspiring history! "Pride is a beacon of (technicolor) light." --Entertainment Weekly In this deeply moving and empowering true story, young readers will trace the life of the Gay Pride Flag, from its beginnings in 1978 with social activist Harvey Milk and designer Gilbert Baker to its spanning of the globe and its role in today's world. Award-winning author Rob Sanders's stirring text, and acclaimed illustrator Steven Salerno's evocative images, combine to tell this remarkable - and undertold - story. A story of love, hope, equality, and pride. Review: Amazing book, very cute - This is a great book that has hidden history that I had no idea until I actually read it, regarding the lgbtq+ community. It's very cute and it's to the point, not too much detail but you still understand what's going on. I really like the book and I would recommend it. Review: A beautiful book with a great message <3 - I used this book as part of a lesson on activism and equality. The illustrations are wonderful! The story itself is grounded in reality and doesn't stray from Milk's message or intent. They don't try to hide the fact that he was assassinated either. We need more children's picture books to help explain the fight for equality and how important it is to show love and empathy towards others despite our differences.

Buy This Book - Just Do It
This book is beautifully illustrated, perfect for children. It is well-written and great for older children as well as younger. It is the best book I've found of its kind! Along with the book about Tango, it is my favorite same love book to date. I especially loved the part that includes the day the white house was lit up rainbow when marriage equality was federally recognized. I cannot recommend this book fervently enough! What a touching tribute to a trailblazer

Important Book for an Important Story
We bought this book for our son so he could learn about how one part of Pride started as well as the important story of Harvey Milk. The book is beautifully illustrated and written and very age-appropriate.

Awesome book, not for 3-year-olds
Bought this book for my godson's 4th birthday. Sadly, the vocabulary and content are a bit beyond him right now; for example, the word "assassinated." I should have guessed that a Harvey Milk book would mention his death, oops! I'll give it to his mom for him to read in a couple years.

A beautiful story to teach our children about pride, love and equality!
Rob Sanders and Steven Salerno have written and illustrated a beautifully crafted story. Since this book is written for young people, it succinctly gets to the heart of Harvey Milk's message and the significance of the rainbow flag. I am proud that this book exists and that children can bear witness to the message of hope and equality that Harvey preached and the flag embodies.

Love this book!
This is a favorite around our house. The illustrations are lovely and the story is well written. It gives a simple, but clear history of Harvey Milk and the origins of the rainbow flag. It's an excellent tool for starting discussions about empathy, love, and human rights.

What a lovely book
Beautifully written. The book helps children understand where the LGBTQ rainbow colors came from, they learn about a gentleman who helped others by making changes in our world to accept all.

a beautifully illustrated book which explains the story clearly but suitably for children
I bought this book to read with my 7 year old daughter. She enjoyed reading it with me, then discussing it afterwards. We went to a Pride parade a few weeks later and she asked if she could make her own flag to fly at the parade as she understood why it was important to see it!
