A great acoustic electric bass, fantastic price !
Sometimes, you can buy an inexpensive instrument and it will sound great. This is one of those instruments. I hope my post helps others, I’ve been playing acoustic guitar, bass guitar and other instruments for more than 30 years. Here is the breakdown on this acoustic electric bass guitar. What came in the box: 1) On the box, the guitar was made by Sky Enterprise, the model of this bass is 427 for the one that is natural color. 2) The box came with pick guard that has a Self Adhesive sticker on the back. I am glad that the manufacturer is giving the owner the option. To me, I like the way the bass looks without it, but end game... it depends if the player heavily uses a pick or not.. some do. 3) There was no hex wench for the truss rod, however I have ones that fit already.. so no big deal on that. 4) The guitar did have foam wrapping inside, and then just the thin outside box. I think that there should have been another external box for more protection. Physical condition / Fit and Finish: 1) Unlike others that have posted, on the one I got... “no” scratches or other damage. The body is perfect! There is abalone for the rosette, and the front top wood may be spruce, the sides and back very much do look like mahogany. 2) The fretboard is supposedly rosewood, and it was “very dry”, I put 3 dime sized drops of Old English lemon oil (not polish) to condition the fretboard. The strings were not tight (as they should) so it was easy to rub in the oil. 3) The “BC” that is on the head stock was very faded, and not to noticeable unless you get in close to the guitar. I don't think that was intentional by the manufacturer, however I very much like the way the logo looks. It's not pronounced. more faded with the wood itself. 4) There is a strap bottom on the very bottom of the guitar and another one of the side of the “neck” toward the body, not sure if that was added as an after thought as I read some posts here on Amazon that there was no 2nd strap button. 5) The built in equalizer is a model: EQ-7545R which you can find by itself on Amazon. The volume knob does not seem too solid, so be careful about that when your turning that volume knob, the other sliders on the EQ, seem good. The battery check light works. Also note that the 9-volt battery is installed and has plastic wrap on it, so you have to pull the battery compartment out and then take that plastic wrap off..don’t forget about that. Sound / Playability: 1) All the frets are fine, they seem to be all the right height.. no dead spots.. nothing. The ends of the frets are "dressed", no need to file them. 2) I did have to tighten the truss rod, that that helped bring down the string height. The white saddle the the strings goes over on the bridge, that piece does come out, and I took down “half” of the material using a dermel rotary tool, then a flat metal file and that also helped get the strings height lowered for better playability. Don’t forget to look on YouTube for instructions on adjusting the truss rod and saddle, "you can" do the basic set up yourself. It's more of a feel, see and play "thing"... more than anything else. 3) Some people in the comments has said that the biggest string, the “E” string does not sound loud enough when the guitar is plugged into an amplifier. Try adjusting the equalizer settings, take down “higher end” on the right of the guitar equalizer and then turn up the “mid” or “high” on your amplifier, that may balance out the sound more. 4) The bridge looks more like a classical style bridge. It has no bridge pins, only holes that go thru the bridge itself. I went with light gauge D'Addario Strings, which I may return for some phosphor acoustic ones, not 100% on that. Another idea, is Nylon strings. Also to note, buy bass guitar strings that are short scale. Also to add, that light strings tend to be brighter, but the upside of that, they are easier to press down and \ fret and also less tension on the neck and bridge. 5) The strings that comes with the guitar, are “ok” for the short term, but I can see physical imperfections of the strings themselves, like the wounds are mushed up in some areas of each string. There is plenty of new ones to choose from on Amazon. Final Conclusion: This electric acoustic bass guitar is a Christmas present but I needed to check out that there was not any outstanding issues with it. From what I can see, this is perfect. I have not seen any acoustic electric bass guitars, that the body has that cutaway shape in this low price range.. anywhere. It’s definitely worth buying 100%… Have a great holiday season! - Tom

Bass go boom 🫠
First bass I've owned, surpassed expectations by quite a bit. Is pretty light, sounds great, and is decently loud. Have had over 10 electric guitars, and about 5 acoustics. This one is way worth it for the price.

Fun to Experiment for the Price.
Very good for the price. Description of "full size" is misleading, it is a short scale. (maybe they just meant it's not a uke bass?) It does not feel as sturdy as the brand name models I have tried but I would still say its a good value for what it is. It did need some minor setup, truss rod adjustment, tightened the screws on the tuners, neck was very much in need of oil. It was good for quiet practice unplugged, but like acoustic basses in general, it does not project a lot without amp. I plugged it into my 40w bass amp though and had a lot of fun with how the versatile tone is. Can get a decent acoustic sounding tone ( Think opening riff of "Blister in the Sun" ) but also can get more low end punch than my regular electric bass (entry level Yamaha with P/J passive pickups). I changed it to some flatwounds (made for electric) and put a small felt pad (improvised mute) next to the nut and playing it plugged in sounded alot like an upright. I would not experiment like that on an expensive model so the price was nice (some colors were on sale for $70). So, much like a 90's era Honda Civic it's lightweight and works pretty good stock, but for the price, might as well throw on some mods and see what it can really do.

Great deal, needs a little work to set up.
I bought this to practice on without an amp. After I got it, I had to adjust the truss rod a bit, but no biggie. It came with the right size allen wrench. It played fine without the adjustment, but the action was much better after I set it. The intonation was really close. It's not loud without an amp, but I didn't expect that, since it's not a full size acoustic bass. I'm making this review because of all of the bad ones. While some people will get a bad one I guess, mine is good. Unbelievable deal for the price (under &70 for me). Some things to keep in mind after reading the other reviews. Some had strings break. I noticed while setting it up that the string tension felt wrong and I was going to wind it up tighter... then remembering others who said their strings broke. I checked it first. If you tune it by ear and feel of the string, you may be temped to run it up an octave. I almost did. It probably would have broken. Like any new guitar, you will need to tune it multiple times at the start. It will settle in eventually. Mine held tune well overnight. The truss rod adjustment is not a normal thing for a casual player, but it is easy to do. Look it up on google or youtube to see how. Basically its the adjustment that controls how close the strings are to the fret board at the base. Too far it it will play clumsy. Too close and it will vibrate against the fret board and make an almost static sound. The adjustment is found on this guitar on the inside. If you look at an angle into the hole, with the neck pointing directly away from you, you will see the allen head right under the lip of the hole. With the strings still on I put the short end of the allen wrench into the socket, and make very minor adjustment. You should not have to turn it even a half turn to get where you want. Adjust it a little, play it a bit and let it settle. I pulled up to get the strings closer to the fret. Some people had strings that touched the frets. In this case push down on the allen wrench.... a little at a time. The strings will prevent you from going too far. All in all this guitar is far better than I would have expected for the price. But you have to set it up to get the most out of it. If your not comfortable setting it up yourself, bring it to your local music shop. They will set it up correctly for you, for the right price I guess. I did buy it to practice with, but I might even play it at Church this Sunday, instead of my electric one. BTW Fedex totally screwed up the delivery. They delivered it 3 streets away. Fedex is usually good however and I attribute it to someone new at their company.

Happy I purchased this acoustic bass guitar!
Like many others that purchased this and posted their reviews, I'm really glad I decided to take the plunge and order this acoustic bass. The bass guitar was packed ok, but only a single, thin box with foam wrap around the bass. Mine came with two strap buttons, and a truss rod allen wrench. I was immediately happy to see just how great the craftsmanship was on the bass I received. Honestly. I know some reviews said it may be hit or miss, and some reported some cosmetic issues, but mine looks incredible considering it was only $109.00. The neck was slightly bowed, so I used the allen wrench to straighten it out a little at a time. Harmonics at the 12th frett and fretting at the 12th frett is in-tune and intonation throughout is good. The only reason I gave this only 4 stars as a bass for beginners is because if you are not familiar with how to set up a stringed instrument, you may become frustrated trying to learn how to play on an instrument with intonation issues and high action. The action on mine is now much better, although I may end up filing the saddle down just a hair to make it perfect. Like others, I also replaced the strings it came with (they were not very high quality and made my hands turn black when playing) with a set of Ernie Ball Earthwood Acoustic Bass Phosphor Bronze strings (45 55 80 95) which sound incredible on this bass. I took time to treat the fretboard with lemon oil and it looks incredible now. Also, my hands no longer become black as a result. The 9v battery compartment won't close all the way when battery is inserted, however I believe I will be able to make a slight modification so it will snap in. The electronics sound great plugged in to my amp. I have an acoustic gig coming up and am really looking forward to using my new acoustic bass. It also sounds great without an amp and has a warm tone that resonates well. A few extra notes: mine had a small sticker on the back of the guitar near the heal of the neck. Mine shows that it was manufactured 11/2020. Also, no logo on headstock, which I was happy about. Prior to buying this, I tried a few Fender acoustic basses at a local store. I can honestly say I made the right choice buying this bass. I bought the natural finish version, pickguard was already fastened. I hope this review helps. If on the fence about this bass, buy it! You will be glad you did.

Not really for a beginner
So, I have zero experience but a huge interest in learning bass, but didn't want to sink a lot of money into it, just in case. I have a guitar that I never was able to do more than tune due to lack of and I couldn't seem to master covering 6 strings with my small hands. I bought this acoustic bass because it was cheap and I liked the blue. (Also I thought if I did get good, I could bring it with me to camp fires and jam with my friends.) I found a local music store that does repairs and also gives lessons and the guy said bring it in and he can get it set up for free or tell me if it's worth keeping or finding something new. He has been playing for a long time and he made it sound great (to me) but said this and I'll pass it along. He said that for a $90 bass it wasn't that bad. The action is too high and the tuning knobs the ones at the top (I can't quite remember their name because again beginner) are too loose. He said the strings were ok, but the action was going to make it tricky to learn to play since I would have to work harder to press down the strings. And the loose knobs were going to mean that keeping it in tune was going to be extremely hard. He couldn't actually get it in completely in tune because even bumping the head or tuning t he next string was knocking it out. Maybe that was just the one I had or maybe it's all of them, not sure. Overall he said if I wanted to keep it not to sink any more money into it because it wasn't worth it and learning things might not sound completely correct because of the tuning. I had read a bunch of reviews that said it's great if you do all of these different things to it and I showed him one and he agreed with all of them and said if I wanted to try them myself using youtube (as one of the reviewers suggested, I could but for him to do it would cost around $90- $120 which would end up being more than I paid for the bass itself. He also told me that if I was really committed to learning I would likely outgrow this instrument in 6 months, and he didn't suggest learning on an acoustic to begin with. I thanked him and came home to see if I could do the things necessary and for someone that had never played a stringed instrument they were daunting and felt like I was going to end up destroying it so I'm going to return it. If you've read this far it's also worth mentioning that if you decide to return it, it's going to cost close to $15 as it is not a free return. So between shipping, gas and tape to ship it back I'm out $20 plus the price of a playable instrument.

Wow
I'm not a pro musician, however I have a small studio for me and my friends to record our original material, so this review is for that target audience. I needed a bass since our bass player was let go. I don't play bass but now needed one to complete some songs. I needed a cheap bass that functioned. After looking at the usual cheap electric basses, I saw this on Amazon and thought it might fit the bill and be kind of fun since it's also an acoustic model. The bass arrived on time as promised, fully stringed with a hex wrench for adjusting the truss rod. I let the bass adjust to my house for a day, then tuned it both with a Snark tuner (to test the neck) and with my guitar rig's tuner (to test the electronics). Once in tune, this instrument sounded amazing in acoustic mode. Full and loud. I did not notice any fret buzz from an improperly set up guitar. I think the action may be a little high. I then plugged into my DAW to test out how the electronics sounded. The volume knob on this bass is really flimsy and doesn't give a lot of confidence, I expect it to fail eventually. The equalizer sliders, however, feel solid enough to last. Once I started playing through my computer, things got interesting. This thing sounded amazing! The volume knob responded, the equalizer worked well and no noise at all coming through. I then cranked up my speakers and the bass to test for feedback, nothing. I noticed that the D and G strings played louder than the E and A strings. Probably needs to be set up. After playing a while, the instrument is lightweight and I was not fatigued. This has not been the case with a Fender P-bass I used to play. Those basses are wonderful sounding professional instruments, but heavy and expensive. I did not expect this cheap of a bass to perform as well as it has. This thing is a bargain and is ideal for home studio and practice for amateur musicians. It is NOT a pro instrument. I have had it about two weeks now and the strings are stretched and the tuners keep the bass in tune for most of the session. The stock strings are a thicker gauge than I want so I bought Fender .045s for later. Other reviewers have suggested that the bass be set up by a professional. I have not done so since the bass has performed well and is not absolutely necessary to get enjoyment out of this instrument. I will do it, though, when I replace my strings. If you buy this bass, rest assured you will get more than what you paid for.

Finally
With a few minor mods you’ve got a pretty great, inexpensive instrument. Over the years I’ve had a half dozen acoustic basses but always sell them because they’re so bulky and awkward to play, but this one is shockingly thin bodied and the headstock feels a bit shorter than normal. Overall it’s super comfortable to play, and even though the listing says Red,it’s orange. Now,first things first, buy better strings and tuning pegs. When I opened the box and tried setting it up I was actively watching the tuning pegs move with each note,so I added black cloverleaf ones and it really makes things pop. For $70 and about $40 more in upgrades I’d be a fool to complain.

Buen bajo por su precio.
Uno recibe lo que paga, si quieres un bajo para poder ensayar y eventos rápidos este es el indicado. Las clavijas del ecualizador de la pastilla venían flojas, pero nada que un poco de cola no corrija.

A whole lot of bass for only a few bills
I bought this from amazon after coming across this on eBay and wanting to guarantee a good shipping experience. Amazon always packs and ships well, so I ordered from here. Free shipping took less than a week to my house, and the bass arrived in perfect condition. I am very impressed with the bass as a whole! It's a little rough around the edges, and isn't something to brag about, but I got more than I expected out of it. I was looking for an acoustic bass to simply play and have fun with, and this exceeded my expectations for the price. It's not the best bass you'll ever play, but it's the best one you'll get for $125. The painting in the sound hole is a little iffy, and there was still masking tape on mine. As well, the fret markers along the top of the neck were a little dirty looking. Paint on the body has small imperfections, but nothing terrible. If you are a little picky, these are things that might bug you. However, sound wise, it sounds great to my ear. The body is smaller than all other acoustic basses I've played, but it is still pretty loud. I prefer it, it makes the instrument a little easier to handle. I had no problems with sharp frets or high action on mine. The neck feels plenty strong to hold the tension of the strings, as some other reviews have mentioned, though I do avoid the neck bends when playing The Awakening. The strings that came on mine are very nice; half the cost of the bass is probably in the strings. Over all, I am very glad I pulled the trigger on this. I am more than happy with what I got, especially considering I could easily spend this much money renting an instrument. I recommend that anybody who is looking at this to simply play and enjoy for yourself, or to use around a campfire, to simply buy it. It's so cheap, you won't regret it, and amazon will look after you if there are any problems.
