For my purposes, it seems just right. See postscript.
This is very thick and tough tape. I'm not installing vinyl noise barriers, but a solid piece of acoustical board to block the noise and light from a high up bedroom window, which is gifted with the noise of a major road with a long steep grade a few hundred feet away, and nothing in between it and my window. The trucks with dubious mufflers, and motorcycles with none, are no fun at all. I have used both duct tape and masking tape, and neither sticks to the aluminum frame or drywall very well. I find the adhesive on this tape to stick well, and it's somewhat malleable, maybe three times the thickness, or more, of electrical tape. I have used a similar product, colored white; this is tougher stuff. The rolls are generous, allowing for another planned use: the duct tape I used to seal the split vinyl insulation on my hot water pipes under the house has come off, and I think this tape will do the job very nicely--really, it should be perfect. There is at least 80 linear feet to seal back up, but there's plenty of tape.POSTSCRIPT: Every year when the triple digits arrive, I go through the ritual of putting an air conditioner in a window that''s five feet off the floor and eighteen feet off the ground, a &@%÷®~ sliding aluminum window at that, and Lord God Billy Bob, is it ever a pain in the rear. Once I have the unit in place, I have to meticulously seal the edges and install a construct of foam, Reflectix and cardboard to fill up the gap above the unit, which device I use year after year. THIS TAPE IS GREAT! I was able to use if for all the sealing except for on the reflectix--I used drafting tape on the foil, because it releases easily. But on the aluminum window frame and the plastic and steel of the AC unit, it sticks exactly right--holds tight, but you can peel it off if needed, and put it back on and it still sticks. It literally made the job twice as easy and there are zero air leaks, plus it looks good. It cuts easily and precisely without getting boogered up like electrical tape.I love reviewing simple products that work really well; this is one.
