WARNING this is powder
I did not mean to get this in powder form. It thought I was getting flakes and there is no way to return, even if I hadn't opened it.

Love it, get it if you like seaweed!
I've been eating seaweed all my life, but I only recently discovered dulse, an edible reddish-purple seaweed typically harvested from the frigid waters of the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. I found it's a traditional food in Northern Europe and the maritime provinces of Canada due to its regional availability. I initially tried adding a teaspoon of the finely powdered dulse to a coffee mug filled with hot water, and instantly I recognized the familiar taste of a rich seaweed broth. Adding a pinch of sea salt transformed it into a savory vegan soup, needing no other seasoning. The convenience of the powdered form makes it incredibly easy to infuse dishes with flavor, eliminating the need for soaking or washing dried seaweeds. Dulse powder has become a new household staple for us and our pets, and I highly recommend incorporating it into beef or chicken soup. Not only does it elevate the flavor, but it also offers the powerful nutrients characteristic of most edible seaweeds.

Great Addition to Soups, Noodles, Smoothies, Salads
This is a huge one-pound bag of red seaweed, dulce. It’s good quality and useful in many ways: a great addition to soups, noodles, smoothies, and salads. It’s easy to make your own blend of ingredients to sprinkle on. I used black sesame, lemon peel, black and red pepper, and some dried garlic (or onion). Store it in a large spice jar and it’s ready to go anytime. Store the rest in a tight container as the bag is not good for storage by itself. (Fyi, it has a Cal prop warning, but it's seaweed from Maine waters, so we're not put off.) My spouse likes to add ocean-y things to his smoothies. For me, it’s a strong flavor but you don’t need to use a lot. We try to vary our diets and the things we eat to get extra minerals. Good value.

Not for me. Maybe for you
I have not tried dulse powder before. But I believe this is probably an OK quality and volume. After lots of googling, I found out it's pretty unusual and not that many vendors sell it as a powder, so this is probably a fine option? But it's definitely not for me. It's basically seaweed tried and ground into a powder, and that's what it tastes like. Weedy, salty and definitely "of the sea". I put it into a cauliflower dal soup that had plenty of flavor on it's own and ... wow... it was not good. But taste is extremely subjective. You like dulse, then... this is dulse. Glad I tried it. Not sad I threw it out after trying it.

Seaside scent and fishy taste
Ocean's Balance Organic Dulse Powder — Great Source of Iodine, Potassium & Iron — Organic Dulse Seaweed for Cooking — Gluten Free Seaweed for All Diets (16 oz) This dulse powder is powder fine, with the smell of the seaside and a fishy taste. It's from Maine, and gluten free. It arrived in a plastic-lined paper bag, and I'll move it to a sealed glass jar with a metal lid for storage. I got this for adding a fishy taste to recipes for a family member allergic to shellfish, and I think it will be perfect for that. The package I received has a best by date of nearly two years from now.

Fine Dulse Powder
This dulse powder is very fine (small particles). When you open the bag, a small plume of powder escapes from the top. The bag is a large paper envelope, re-closable. The envelope is so large, I had to fold it to fit the cabinet shelf. The powder probably needs to be moved to another container for convenience, although with spices, I think they are supposed to be kept in original packaging. I tasted a spoonful right out of the bag and sprinkled on pasta. It tasted ok but not pleasing, subtle taste of seaweed, bitter though with after taste. It was not overly salty. There is a California Proposition 65 Cancer Warning but the name of the chemical is not specified. For me, this powder is not a substitute for laver. I did not enjoy the flavor so tossed it.
