If you want to take long timelapses but especially astrophotography, you kind of need this intervalometer. Sony cameras used to do this in-body app but the app wasn't that great. A wired hardware based implementation is sadly the only way to do it now. Surprisingly super simple to set up. You literally just plug it in and configure it for your camera spec which for me was mirrorless then program how long you want the exposure to be, the interval and frames. No shake, just set it and forget it - should be the slogan for this product. I only use it for astrophotography and I can say for sure that it's great at that. Funny thing is that this can do so much more but I really only need it for the shutter release and long exposures.

simple, easy, effective get the job done

This is the item that does more to control the granularity than most native camera times allow for. If you're into astral photography, interesting time lapse of landscapes, areas or sea/sky - you'll appreciate the flexibility this device provides you with. Or perhaps you just need a remote trigger to reduce shake and provide a crisp image each and every time you take a picture of your subject - this will be a 'go-to' tool in your tool bag. It does not come with batteries (you will need 2 - 'AAA' batteries). It does come with a detailed user manual, and it was easy to set up and use. This model fit our Sony camera as anticipated (if you have another brand of camera, you will want to order the correct item to interface with your camera). This item did what it claimed to do, and did what it was designed to do with no problems. I'd recommend!
