Elan Publishing Company Field Notebook/Journal - 5"x8" - Assorted Patterns - Lined Memo Book - Pack of 5

I've been using these notebooks for over a year, and now that I've filled them up and am about to buy more, I figured I'd leave a review because I really love these notebooks and felt I should pass on my thoughts to anyone debating them. PROS: +Thick (but not too thick) of paper that doesn't allow much bleed from fountain pens or highlighters +No margins! I take full page notes and love that I can essentially make my own margins +They look great, which is why I bought them in the first place +Thin enough to fit 5 in my bag without taking up much room or weighing much at all +They stay open on their own, so you don't have to hold the pages open at all while writing +No annoying spiral-binding, it's stitch-bound CONS: -Very difficult to tear pages out of neatly... seriously, don't buy these if you rip pages out frequently. They're firmly in there. I never do my homework in these and instead do that in a different notebook. -Not a lot of pages. This can be a pro (for me it is- they're light!), but if you're looking for something substantial, this probably isn't it. So far, each book has been enough for me to take notes for one semester-long college course and my hand writing is large, so I have no complaints personally. Would I recommend them? For taking notes? YES! These have so far been my favorite notebooks, and I've filled many over the course of my studies. I think these would make a great journal, thought book, etc. Basically, as long as you don't need to tear any pages from it, these are fantastic and I would recommend them whole-heartedly.

Just the right size for taking notes! Plus Pretty! Durable with staples so pages don’t fall out. I put mine inside my Bible to take to church and use for prayer journal/sermon notes!!! This is the second time I’ve ordered these notebooks!

This are perfect little notebooks! I was wanting something I could use for keeping notes during books studies, and these are ideal. Small, so they don’t feel as overwhelming as a spiral, but not so small that they feel useless. The covers are pretty are feel very sturdy, and the pages are much thicker than I expected. Overall, a great value for the money. I will be buying more in the future.

These journals are perfect for any age, but are lightweight and easily transportable. My granddaughter loved them and immediately started journaling. She grabbed the stripy one first. The paper was lightweight, but looks sturdy. Loved that there are five of them in a pack. Good for gifts . When I first ordered them I wasn’t sure they would be the right size, but they turned out to be better than expected. Hope they do more colors and designs in the future, they’re fun.

Love these little field books! The covers are beautiful, and like other buyers have said, they're made really well. I'm already using two of them to keep notes for recipes and a new hobby I'm working to learn. I would definitely order them all over again, and I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars because I didn't realize they said, "field book," on them. It's not a huge deal, but they'd be perfect if it was just the cover pattern without the wording.

I don’t like spiral bound notebooks, so when I needed some notebooks for a couple of college classes, I settled on trying these out. I love them. They are exactly as pictured and described, super cute, and the quality is great. I don’t have any issues with bleeding, even using gel pens. I would definitely buy this set again!

These notebooks (3.5" x 5.5" size) were a last-minute purchase before a 16-day coach tour of Ireland/Scotland. On previous trips I had wondered if something like this might work better than writing notes on scraps of paper and keeping trip info on papers stored in my backpack. I wanted something small and pretty that would fit easily in my purse (and put it in a ziploc bag to keep it clean). Prior to leaving, I xeroxed my itinerary, which included information on each day's activities (airline info, a mini-map, hotel, places we'd be stopping) and taped each day's info at the start of a 2-page spread. Throughout the trip, I could quickly refer to the day's information. I used the lined pages to write things I wished to remember (such when we needed to be back on the bus, when/where dinner was, when luggage was to be outside room, hotel wifi password) as well as little bits of information, funny things the guides said, notes on what to bring on future trips, etc. I have to say using this notebook far exceeded my expectations. As fellow tour passengers wondered things, I could pull out my notebook with the answers. As I look back on the notebook now that I've returned, I am so grateful to have it. There are so many things I wrote down that at the time I was sure I'd remember but now realize I have already forgotten. I can see many more great uses for these, and definitely I will take one on any future trip! It's a wonderful compact remembrance of a wonderful time.

I love these!!! A set of five really pretty and colorful notebooks perfect for all your writing needs. A perfect gift for yourself or a friend. Love that there just the perfect size (5”x7”) and that there’s a ruler on the inside of the back cover. Nice little touch just in case. I use them everyday for miscellaneous lists or story ideas, pretty much whatever. I want them all!!!

Beautiful patterns and thick covers. Lovely notebooks. They're thinner than I thought i.e. fewer pages. The description said 24 sheets per booklet but it's 12 (stapled in the middle and folded to make a notebook). I like them enough to keep them anyway but will fill them faster than expected.
